Fob auto start wont turn on engine

So I recently got a used 2014 honda civic ex from a dealer
and it was going great until the fob key stopped turning on
the car. I regret not getting a car with an actual key
ignition. Ive replaced the battery to the fob key and still
nothing. No matter how close I hold it and no matter how
many times I press the break and the engine button the
car won't start. I get a clicking noise but then nothing. All
the dash lights come on along with the radio. I cant figure
out if I need to just replace the whole remote key stater or
if the ignition or starter to the car itself is bad. Im in
desperate need of help because i can't afford a super
costly fix.

nobody wants a costly fix!! I would definitely say there is problem a problem with the fob transmitter in the car reading the remote. I have a used car too with a a key fob and it has a horrible battery issue ( the battery doesn't get recharged in a fob and we tend to forget that). I bought the lifetime battery plan at batteries plus ( $16). HOWEVER , I say you have a transmitter issue and hopefully that is under warranty. if it's going click click on you, probably dead battery. good luck

Hold down the start button and see if it tries to start up. My fob battery leaked in my key last spring and I couldn't figure out why my car was quitting right away when I pressed start. It only actually kinda tried to start when I held it down. I love being able to leave my keys in my purse, who wouldn't? But I hate twiddling my thumbs, making small talk while the car is starting.
