new ignition switch installed, now engine will not start. rotates with starter, but no ignition

after new switch (electrical), not the tumbler, , the engine will not start.
seems to be with the small timing gear in the ignition switch.
is there a witness or timing location for the plastic gear in the ignition switch?

I have lost my key to my Yukon GMC and my I need to replace the engine switch is there a video that can walk me through it
