Why does my 1999 GMC van stop running shortly after starting it whether moving or sitting?

Asked by badvan Jul 17, 2015 at 06:33 PM about the 1999 GMC Safari 3 Dr SLT AWD Passenger Van Extended

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Fuel pump is new. I can hear fuel pump produce pressure and can hear the pressure
release after it stalls, with key off. It's totally unpredictable. It can run for thirty minutes or
more, but always stalls and often does not start immmediately after that.

Put a fuel pressure gauge on the Schrader valve and see if it is getting the proper pressure. You may have a bad fuel pressure regulator.
