Engine light
Asked by GuruWMC8M May 28, 2018 at 06:48 PM about the 2015 Chevrolet Malibu LS FWD
Question type: Maintenance & Repair
My 2015 Malibu engine light came on. I also got a message from On Star. I
called the dealer and they recommend that diagnostics be done. I was also
told that I would have to pay the diagnostic fee of $150 if the service isn't
under warranty. My car is still covered under the engine/transmission
warranty, but there are exceptions. My concern is why I need to pay this
hefty $150 fee just for my car to be checked. Has anyone else had this
problem?

It's like paying your co-pay when you go to the doctor.
Yes it is. The car is able to self diagnose itself and therefore it should already be known what it wrong. Again, it's just a ploy to get the customer in to pay extra.
I have the same issue. I went to GM for a transmission oil change, since i have this issue and the same thing to you...it's not covered.
