Ford Escape '01

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

As I was driving back home from the store my car
started making a screeching sound every time I
accelerated and blowing out white smoke from the
front of the car. It then shut off and as I proceeded
to turning it back on, the same screeching sound
re appeared. Anyone have an idea of what it could
be? This is the first time it does that and my
knowledge on vehicles is quite petite.

1 Answer

The serpentine belt may be screeching and smoking due to a frozen idler wheel or other engine accessory.
