Shorties are nicer, and work well, gives you more room to do any type of work. Plus then they make Y-pipes to fit, no custom fitting. I have them on my 95, 3" exhaust to the muffler, 2 1/2 out back to 3". Sounds nice.

My view on headers is different than Roewfast's. If you get headers get long tubes as they will give a much bigger power boost than shorties and in my opinion they sound better. Long tubes are more difficult to install and may require 02 sensor wiring extensions and cats, but in my opinion worth it. Both Long tubes and shorties may require a canned or dyno tune.

Good morning there Bob, the long headers hang down lower, depending if you use the truck link I use mine, I have no clearance issues out in the woods. All is a matter of opinion, I have no qualms with long or short headers. Just a matter of choice.

Rowefast, I think we agree mostly. It depends on what the owner wants and what the vehicle is used for. Also long tubes, cats and the rest of the required parts cost much more than shorties.

Something else, a Chevy LS 5.3, 6.2 engine will never sound as good as a Ford Mustang or F-150 Coyote 5.0 V-8. The Chevy and the Fords just have an altogether different sound. My 2006 Corvette sounded like crap, it screamed and ran great, but sounded like crap.
