1995 gmc Van. I have changed fuel pressure regulator and checked compression and
that is good. Could it be the pcm causing the problem

faulty spark plugs or an injector leaking could cause this, how much fuel are we talkin, and is it hard to start after sitting for a day or two?

yes the computer could be issuing bogus instructions...probably due to a BAD ground...always seems to go back to the ground connection to the chassis must be wirebrushed free of corrosion for solid power...also if the battery is older than five years old needs to be replaced with a new one~...will not survive a "load test" in which a controlled dead-short is applied for three seconds then the starter is engaged and if it goes kaput, needs to be charged...then replaced~

...at the shop where I worked we bought several ECM 'computer brain' replaced them...only to come up with the same unsatisfactory result...it wasn't until one of us took a look at the connection from battery to chassis ground that the culprit was detected...of course there is "NO returns" on electrical...so we had to swaller this cost~
