My check Fuel cap light message came on , but when I check my cap it is on and tight. Also my check engine light came on a day later. do i need a new gas cap?

Check engine light means there is stored code you should have scanned, free at an auto parts store. A cap that new should not be leaking. It could also be a air leak in the evap system that would also make the gas cap light come on. Look underneath for a disconnected hose or crack in the evap canisters. Or just try a new gas cap. They are only $10 and maybe you can return it if that's not the problem.
