transmission stuck in netural

my 2001 ford focus while driving went into netural and when you shift into any
gear its like its still in netural what do i look for to fix the problem

The tranny's probably beat , aside from proper fluid level and condition there's not much you can do unless you're a tranny tech . Unless a cable is broken or something

Check for a broken axle shaft or CV joint. Automatic or manual transmission? If a manual then you may have a clutch problem. If automatic then most likely the transmission has went bye bye and will need overhauled or replaced.
