going from non sirrius to install a sirrius radio in 2016 mazda cx5

Asked by Robert Dec 27, 2016 at 05:03 PM about the 2016 Mazda CX-5 Sport

Question type: General

Wife wants a sirius radio in her 2016 mazda cx5 . The salesperson that sold us the cx5 told us that there is no way short of taking the dash out and replacing it, costing about 2 grand. When I go into settings to check it out out , the xm feature is there , but grayed out . Salesperson also told me that on the sport version, the radio is sealed and can't be accessed. Is this true ?

For that price I would buy an aftermarket XM radio. These radios start at around $50 on Amazon. There is a mount for $18 that plugs into your cigarette lighter.
