Power liftgate
Asked by GuruNXYC6 Oct 22, 2019 at 04:25 PM about the 2016 Ford Edge Titanium AWD
Question type: Maintenance & Repair
My power liftgate will not open. When I press the
button to open it, one side engages as if it wants
to open. The other side does not engage.
Therefore my car thinks the liftgate is open and
drains my battery. I have tried disabling/enabling
via the dashboard - no luck. I am not able to locate
the manual release (per youtube videos - I
removed the said cover videos were indicating but
there is not latch to release). Dealership said they
were able to open it with their computer.

How do we correct the problem?
I have the same problem, it has drained the battery 2x while trying different things to fix it. Dealership said it could be the latch but they weren’t sure since i could not get it to duplicate while in for service.. did you find a fix?
We have the same problem 2017 Ford Edge
Experiencing the same with my 2015 Ford Edge SEL. Liftgate won't open, and presumably does not fully close, either, which has drained by battery 3x now. Curious to hear if others have experienced the lift gate issue particularly when the back seats are folded down...? Trying to isolate the variable that is causing problems with the lift gate.

@guru98831n did the diagnosis solve your issue? I’m having what sounds like an impulse issue and no one has been able to help.
