We also has problem with 2017 Ford Edge Titanium powe hatch. Closed would not open, it wold try to open, but acted like it was latched. Scrolled on dash for vehicle menu setting for vehicle powerliftgate. Disabled switch then renabled switch. Seems to be working alright for now. Hope this helps someone else later.
it worked...thank you very much!!!!!
I had the same exact issue and this also worked for me! Can't imagine why!
We also have similar problem with 2016 Ford Edge Titanium power hatch. Closed would not open, it wold try to open, but acts like one side is still latched. I have removed the cover from inside but I can only see a hex head screw, can't move it... any thoughts?
I did the same step as you and gave up at the hex screw. All I had to do was use the menu on the left side of the dash.. Go to Vehicle settings then Power Liftgate... I disabled it, waited 5 seconds then enabled it. I walked around to the back and pressed the button and the liftgate opened. The button didn't close it so I repeated the procedure and now I'm good
How do you do this for a 2019? I don’t see Power Liftgate under Vehicle Settings.
I have a 2017 Titanium Edge and my liftgate won’t happen. I tried removing the cover from the inside but just see a screw so that didn’t help. I tried to disable the setting then enable it, that didn’t work. When I push the button on my key and inside the car, the lights flash like it wants to open but doesn’t. Same if I push the button that’s on the liftgate on the outside of the vehicle. Anything else I can try? Someone help!!
*my liftgate won’t open!
This is my follow up to my earlier post for 2016 Edge. I found the information helpful at the time but I then decided there must be an easier way and there is. What we are doing is resetting the system and to do so all you need to do on the all electric system is to hold the power switch in for about 5 seconds and that will do it. If your battery is run down you need to get power to it first. Pop the hood and put a 12 volt power supply to it, this will give you the needed power. It will not pop the rear hatch up so you will have to lift it manually but once so done every thing will have been accomplished except for the complete recharge of the battery. If the hatch is misaligned, that will need adjustment. No more problem. Smile Smile Smile and thanks for listening er reading. T
re: hold the power switch in for about 5 seconds What power switch? The ignition button?
The power switch on the hatch itself. The rubber coated one located in the outside finger hole on the hatch itself. T.
So I have a 2015 Edge Titanium, my liftgate became faulty probably because I hit a few bumps and I heard a click in the back while I was driving and the liftgate was stuck. I hit the button on the handle for 5 seconds like GuruPBHJ4 said and turn on my vehicle, the liftgate was working again. Thank you for all your help.
My liftgate had stopped working cause my battery was weak. Once I changed the battery, it worked again. For those who cant get it to work after resetting it, try charging your battery a little or switching it out. Hope this helps you all.
Does not work. I do not have a lever on the 2017 Edge. Sick, sad and sorry I ever bought this car.
My daughter also has a 2017 Ford Edge and her tailgate does not open or close. I tried holding rubber button on the door hatch itself for 5 seconds. I tried it with the car on and off. I held the hatch button near the steering wheel for 5 seconds with car off and on. There is not anything on the settings screen about vehicles settings other than the reset of the keypad. Please help, I don't want to have to pay to take to mechanic for them to charge an arm and leg for something simple since this seems to run in the Ford Edge
@apaul2196 --- this happen to me and it was my battery -- a quick switch to a new one and bam it worked! The mechanic I used said that when the battery gets below a certain number it will only send power to the more important parts of the vehicle -- thats how he broke it down for me to understand, lol. Hope it works for you!
I have 2017 edge. I can confirm the battery. I left the lift slightly open overnight. In the morning the battery was dead. I got a boost, the car started but the display screen and its functions were dark. I thought the same thing; when the battery is low the car will use power to the most critical components. Once I replaced the battery all worked as normal
Might be somewhat late, but after a lot of "troubleshooting" I came to the conclusion that the power lift gate module (RTGM) had gotten out of sequence. I used an OBDII code scanner to see if it might display any codes. No, but I decided to "Clear" any codes stored in the car anywhere. Guess what? After that, the power lift gate opens perfectly and closes with authority. We will see how long this lasts. It did prove that fuses, various buttons, lift motor and latch functions are all good.
Thanks disable/enable under settings power lift gate worked! Dealer wanted to charge me $185! Thanks guys! :)

2017 Ford Edge, tried all of the above. The battery was simply run down because the car sat for a couple of weeks without being driven. Had enough charge to start the car, but not operate the lift. After driving around awhile, battery recharged and it worked fine. Checking the battery might save some time and frustration.

I have a 2017 Ford Edge Titanium and tried the disable/enable of the Power Liftgate vehicle setting and that did not work. After reading other articles and the owners manual I "reset" mine by disconnecting the battery - waiting a few minutes and then reconnecting it. That reset the liftgate and it worked.

this worked for me after i removed the battery cable and waited 5 min to re-connect them held the rubber lift-gate open button down for 10 seconds (count slow 10 seconds is longer than you think it is when you are stressed) and now it works

2015 Ford Edge - Tailgate warning "Hatch Ajar" I went to the menu but it will not let me select power tailgate to reset it, when I scroll down it bypasses that option. What now?
disconnect the battery, and count down from 30, after that I was able to open the gate manually and close it manually, all functions restored

Well none of the above worked for us. Just bought a 2017 Edge. You can hear it unlock and lock right back up. So of to the dealer we purchased it from. You would think they would of check everything first to make sure it worked.
Maybe Ford should of done a recall a long time ago !
Has this Power Lift Gate problem ever turned into a recall, as it should?
bibicolibri answered about a year ago
For sure the liftgate problems should be a recall
