Why did my check engine light come on all of a sudden

If it's a red light check the oil, if it's the yellow light there's a prblem with the engine or emission controls, many parts stores will read the codes for you after you find out the code number or numbers repost here.

There are a lot of sensors on the engine and transmission. Any one of them can cause the light to come on. Only way to tell is to scan the OBD computer. As Mike mentioned, many uto parts stores will scan it for codes and give you additional information.
