sudden acceleration
In December 2018, After backing out of a parking space, put car in drive, then
car took off. In 15 feet car accelerated fast enough that when it hit a concrete
base of a parking lot light it caused over $11,000 in damage. Any other reports
of this happening?

My friend suffered alleged sudden acceleration in a 2014 Ford Escape. The car rolled five times and witness say the car flew 1000 feet in the air. They both suffered closed brain injuries. They had seat belts on, or they both would have been killed!

Just a few months ago in my 2017 Ford Escape same thing within one foot of concrete handicap parking sign getting ready to back out and the next thing I know the car is accelerating hit the concrete post and pulled it out of the asphalt, did not respond to braking and finally stopped when post pulled out of ground, felt like I was riding up the concrete post with close to $8K damage. I chalked it up to possibility of foot not being on brake but on accelerator though it wasn't because when I looked down after the accident my foot was on the brake and I also wasn't aware of these issues at the time. Stupid me lease was up so I purchased a 2020 Escape and with less than 2000 miles on it same thing happened sudden unexplained acceleration with my foot on the brake after backing out of parking space and collision into concrete pillar. No airbag deployment despite my seat belt bruising my chest and no collision assist warning. A lot of under hood damage (shifted the whole frame of my vehicle) likely at least 8K in damage with my foot never leaving the brake. Now I am afraid to drive the car and haven't even got it back from repairs. A fellow employee had same thing happen with her 2018 escape and her dealership suggested a problem with something called the purge valve and have provided her a Courtesy car while being inspected. My dealer is offering nothing

My 2016 just did this unintended acceleration yesterday. I had just taken off from a light turning to another light where cars were waiting. So I was going maybe 25 mph. All Of a sudden it surged it was making a noise at the same time either under or on the right side in the back at the same to time the engine was ramping up. I hit the brake but it wasn’t working I thought wow did I hit the gas so I hit the brake 3 more times trying to slow it down. I thought I was going to rear end a car sitting. So I don’t know why I through it in park. We stopped. I turned the car off got my composure turned it back on so I could get out of the roadway and it sounded normal then. I drove a little to get out of the way of traffic and it seemed ok. Called the dealer they had me bring it right up. And that’s where it is.

I just bought a 2020 Ford Escape Titanium Hybrid 7 weeks ago. Was cunning fine, then the other day I was pulling into a parking stall ( foot wast even on the gas pedal ) suddenly it took off ( accelerating on its on. I braked, that didn’t stop it, went up over a concrete medium, airborne onto the hood of a parked car. Like a ghost took control. Extremely grateful no pedestrians or anyone hurt. Scared the hell out of me.
