2016 E Class Cabrio - Hydraulic pump release valve

Asked by Guru9QGKGF Mar 20, 2022 at 10:44 AM about the 2016 Mercedes-Benz E-Class E 350

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

The release valve (circled in red) I lossened it off to manually raise the roof
when it got stuck open.  I now have roof up and locked, and the final thing to
do is tighten this nut again, but it doesnt tighten or loosen, just seems to
freely turn. Any one have any tips how to get it to catch and tighten, is there
a knack to it ?? Am I just being incredibly stupid, or am I missing something.
Thanks in advance,

Hi all, I ended up having to replace the whole unit, as I had threaded the nut (circled). Note to anyone having to manually put the hood up, this nut requires only a half turn. I now have another problem, the roof will not go down, if the boot separator is not deployed, I get the usual message “Close boot separator” When I deploy the boot separator and press the button, I get no response, no error messages, nothing ? Any ideas guys ? Possibly the relay ? Or an error with some of the sensors ? Summer is here and can’t get the hood down !! Aarghhh !!! lol
