2016 Forester premium key fob

Question type: General

The key fob I have for my 2016 Forester
premium has 4 buttons. Panic, lock, unlock,
and trunk. I understand what 3 of the 4 do
but the trunk button has me puzzled. I do not
think I have a power tail gate that opens
when I press the button. Is the button to
simply unlock the trunk? (This May be a silly
question)

Try it and see! My 2015 Forester premium remote only has 3 buttons.

Oh sorry. I’ve tried it and it appears to only unlock the trunk. I was just quizzical as to why this would be an option when the unlock button does essentially the same task.
