how much weight can a 2016 forester pull in  a trailer or RV

I think the Forester is rated at 1,500 pounds. I would not risk ruining your fragile CVT by towing. Better to get a real tow vehicle. Also keep in mind that 1,500 includes cargo carried inside the car.
