You didn't say what type of engine light, red oil light or yellow check engine light. Too may things to really give any good advise without better information. If the light is red, stop driving it and have it towed to a shop for diagnostics. If it is a yellow light then get the codes read and then see what it is referencing.

Thanks Captain Obvious. The oil light just happens to be a red oil can, while the engine light is...wait for it...an engine...crazy!! Thanks to your great tip, I also noticed that the speedometer is different than the tachometer...awesome!!

Have the codes read and see what you are up against. The "engine" light is likely an oxygen sensor but have it read before changing out parts.
