How to remove the overhead map light console 2016 Honda 2016

Asked by CraigROestreich Mar 07, 2019 at 02:24 PM about the 2016 Honda CR-V EX-L FWD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

There is a very annoying squeak and I have
finally narrowed it down to coming from
behind the map light console on the roof. I
removed the two screws above the sun glass
holder but something else is holding it. The
Honda parts guy gave me a parts breakout
but did not know. They want $90 diagnostic
minimum....it sounds like an electrical
connector rattling, all I need is to wrap it with
some foam after I get the console out? Any
ideas ? Thanks Craig

I just have a parts breakout, no assembly diagram. With the two screws removed, it appears to be slightly loose, I have rotated and pulled down to the limit I am comfortable without breaking plastic or the headliner. Any additional information about the clips would be appreciated! Thanks! Craig

There are 4 screws holding the overhead light console on. You found the 2 inside the sunglass holder. The other 2 are under the clear map light covers. Find a video on changing the map lights that should show you how to remove the covers. Then the screws are easy to see and silver color. After you get all 4 screws out pull down on the side where the map lights are first, then slide it toward the windshield to pull it out.
