I was taking my daughter to the airport in a heavy rain. The car started and ran, but the air conditioning, window defoggers, and blind spot lights didn't work. It made the trip scary as the front window kept fogging up. As we opened the windows to help the situation, we were rained on. The car is less than 3 months old and the windows still fogged up..

Yes! My 2016 Rouge's AC seems to work when it wants to. I took it in and 2.5 hours waiting in the service department they said they replaced a switch. A week later it again stopped working. The air just is not very cold and 81 degrees outside we ended up just rolling the windows down. To the repair shop again on Monday (but of course it's working now) ugh!
Well again they said nothing was wrong with it! I picked up my car and the AC was running ICE COLD a few days later here I am with the passenger side vent blowing the coldest and it gets warmer with every vent there after ending in a very lukewarm vent in the back. Three days of work missed because I have to bring my car in the shop and it only has13,000 miles!
I have a 2015 that is doing the exact same. The AC stops and starts as it pleases. Dealership can't duplicate it.
My 2015 has done the same thing since I bought it. Happened first time the second month I had it. It happened again today and I happened to be going right by dealership. They said they have had others with same problem. Said repair would be in the $1000 range and that repairs don't seem to always work. He had no helpful options and I left thinking I will never buy Nissan again.
Exact same problem and was told the exact same thing. I left the dealership with the same attitude! Said they have heard of the problem, repair $1k and don't always work. Also said car would have to be in the shop for a couple of days and offered to charge me for a rental car. Called another dealer and he said he is not familiar with the problem and to bring car in to him and he will check if for free and give me a loner car for free. I will see how that goes. If they can not identify and fix the problem I will trade the Rogue in and you can be sure it will not be on another Nissan!

I have the same problem. The dealership can't duplicate the problem while it is at the shop. I'm under warranty but they won't replace anything unless they see the blowers not working. I can't take the car on long trips or drive it in conditions when the windows might fog up because it is dangerous when it stops working! Are there any technical bulletins out on this?
I have a 2016 Nissan Rogue with less then 10,000 miles and the air conditioning system went out. I had problems with Nissan before and thought I'd give that other chance cuz this car has good gas mileage. But I think I'm done with Nissan after this
I have a 2015 Nissan rouge the a/c stops working after an hour. they told me this was normal
so I have a 2016 rogue that has 19,000 miles on it. coming home from camp I've notice that my ac stopped working and on that day it just happen to be 103F degrees. called the dealer made an appointment drove the car in and showed the service writer what was going on with it I've made sure to show him what it was doing so there for they cant say we cant duplicate the problem. 3 days later they called and said the a/c compressor is the problem and they replaced it. picked up my cars drove it 3 miles down the road guess what yup it problem is still there. I was smart enough to video the problem as I was driving the car back to the dealer. walked in told the service that I have just drove my car off the lot and the problem is still there showed him the video. another 2 days in the shop now they come up with another problem they said it a intake temp sensor. I will let you guys know after I pick up the car today 07/11/17
I've had the same issue with my 2016 Nissan Rogue. I've brought it in 4 times for them to resolve the problem but because its intermittent, it's hard for them to replicate. It's a big disappointment since I've owned three other Nissan vehicles since I started driving without any issues. My car is still at the dealer so I'm waiting to see what they come back with. Clearly, this has been an issue with the 2015 models as well and with all these complaints, I would've expected for Nissan corporate to take a real approach in handling the situation.
Just got off the phone withe the Nissan customer complaint department. I have the same issue with my 2015 Rogue, ac goes out randomly on long road trips. Has happened three times this summer in Texas heat. Regional office was no help, said they would not even try to fix until dealer could replicate the issue. Also bought a Nissan Frontier a few months after Rouge. So after buying two Nissans in a row I can safely say I will not buy another one.
Personally, from reading tons of reports about defective Rogue A/C units, I have read only one report that ended with a successful fix - and it made sense to me. The evaporator was freezing up particularly on highway trips. The evaporator was replaced with a newer (different year) model's evaporator - not the same year as problem vehicle - and the problem was resolved.

I have a 2015 Rogue with less than 25,000 miles on it. On three different road trips, with my children in the car, my air conditioning has stopped working after 2-2.5 hours(never in the city only after several hours of driving). I have taken it into three dealerships in two different states. Two dealerships said it was the Intake temperature sensor and they have seen this same problem several times, but they can't duplicate the problem so the warranty will not fix it. Once the car sits overnight it works again for a while. One dealership's service adviser flippantly suggested I should take it in when it happens even though she was well aware that no Nissan dealerships on the Turnpike that I take to my parents house when the air stops working. Really glad that dealership is not the one I normally deal with because the service person was incredibly condescending and rude. So we started a case with the Nissan company to get it fixed since it is under warranty. As everyone said above Nissan will not fix it. Wish I had never bought a Nissan and most certainly will not again. Extremely frustrated!
"Not able to duplicate" is a common tactic for many car manufacturers. The problem is that your car is still under warranty. They would gladly waste your time and take your money if your car's warranty was expired. From your description, I am fairly certain that your A/C is freezing up - most likely the evaporator. It often takes extended driving on a hot, humid day to facilitate the car's A/C to freeze up. Then, after driving for another 20 minutes or so the A/C will thaw, and the A/C will work again for 20 minutes and then refreeze. I am afraid that the only way you can get help with this is to duplicate it yourself, and immediately bring it in. I know that you stated that this was difficult to do, but it probably is the only thing you can do. In any case, I would contact a Nissan dealer to see if you could arrange such an encounter: car' A/C freezes, bring it in to show them, etc. What a pain. If you live long enough, you will eventually encounter this sort of problem: stonewalling by a car dealer or manufacturer. Y YOur particular problem is so common on the 2014-2016 Rogue that undoubtedly Nissan has a good idea what is causing the problem. Unfortunately, if Nissan admits it, it will cost them dearly, and they will not want to admit it. Good luck. PS I seriously doubt it is a sensor. It has all the markings of a iced-up A/C which can be caused by a couple things, and the obvious ones are easy to eliminate (pressures on both the high and low side). Since this problem is so common, it most likely is a defect.

Have the same problem with 2016 Highlander. One year old with approx. 30K. AC started blowing hot air intermittently during long drive to Florida.
Have same problem with my 2015 rogue. 4 times I've had it into the dealer each time they at least change parts and yet my air conditioner still works when and if it wants and the buttons change themselves. They tested freon they checked all the circuits they replaced computer circuit board they repaired the hose from compressor with new orfice and parts and last week they replaced new computer part called amplifier to send stronger signal to compressor and stop buttons from changing themselves. Worked good for one week then on sunday driving on hwy set my cruise control and shortly after the buttons changed themselves and i lost air conditioning again. Not sure if there is a fix anymore. Starting to feel like I'm stuck with a problem vehicle. Always drove Honda's but wanted to try something new. Not a very good first impression. Very disappointed.
Our 2015 Rogue has the exact same issues as all of the comments above. The dealer has replaced the control panel, 'amplifier', and a couple of other items after three extended stays at their shop. Of course they cannot duplicate the air conditioning failure because it is sporadic, but we have videos that show it swapping back in forth from inside air to outside air and manual override doesn't work. When it switches to outside air, the air conditioning does not work. The car is still under warranty and we are meeting with the dealer here in Charlotte today to see if we can work a deal on a different car- not a Rogue!
My heart goes out to you. I have never been so frustrated with a new vehicle like this. Mine does exactly the same thing. Air conditioner works pretty good with inside air but if the button changes on it's "own" I might add to outside air I lose air conditioning. It has done all these things at the dealer so they have got to see for themselves. I would have to guess by the fact that they have done all the same repairs to yours as they have to mine that they really don't know what's causing it and there just replacing parts. Sad thing is I believe it's a Nissan problem that should be addressed. They are continually putting these faulty systems in there vehicles. Hope all goes well for you.
My 2015 Rogue also has the A/C problems being documented here. The air is cold only intermittently. The Outside Air button automatically switches on and cold air is replaced by warm /humid air. Then after a while it MAY get cold again. This is the second summer I've suffered through this. My dealership has replaced multiple sensors and parts, including the compressor, in 4 separate visits. Luckily they were able to recreate the problem). Unfortunately every fix is temporary. The sad thing is, I kinda like the car otherwise but the A/C problems make me want to push it off a cliff!
Hey all...Same problem with our 2014 Nissan Rogue. Love the car otherwise, but when you are driving at highway speeds, outside air temp in the 90's, high humidity and the sun pouring in the windows...It is dang uncomfortable when it quits working. So, I am going to add a little to my description that I haven't seen here. My description is this...When it happens, the air blower seems to be choked off. That is, we have the fan set on high and it is like the dampers are closing off on all the vents. You can still hear the blower going like mad (high-speed), but no air coming from any of the vents at all. No matter what mode it is set to. I could handle a little heat if we had air movement. Can't really roll the windows down at 75 MPH because it kills the ears. Anyway, it has happened 5 times now. Three times I have had it in to repair, with no luck. Oh...The last time I had it in, they changed the cabin air filter and said that it was causing the problem. Said that it was our fault because we refused service the last time we had it in...we were in for a recall and they said that we needed new brakes and tires, nothing to do with the AC. I have paper work that showed the cabin air filter as green and not needing to be changed. I asked them to explain that since it was barely 2-months in-between services. I was told by the service rep that if I had turned it on "fresh" air, then the air would blow because it bypasses the filter and it wouldn't be blocked by that dirty filter. However, it doesn't matter whether I am on "recycled" air or "fresh" air, the blower won't dump any air into the cabin. By the way, took the Rogue in to another service center to have the brakes worked on and they told me that it didn't need brakes...Imagine a business not taking my $ when I told them I needed brakes. Sorry for the rambling, but this has been a frustrating experience. I was just wondering if anyone else had the same issue of the air flow dropping or being cut-off.
Something that I was NEVER told when I bought this car is that the compressor will modulate to only provide an "acceptable" amount of cold air to "save the compressor's lifespan." In other words, if you turn the A/C on full blast and put the temperature down as low as possible, it will pump out cold air until the sensor reads that the cabin has been "sufficiently cooled." At that point, it will begin pumping out hot air until the sensor reads that more cooling is needed. So on a 100 degree day, you will get cold air at first, but then it begins blowing out hot air, which means you need to turn off the A/C or roll down the window. This is one of the most ridiculous features I have ever heard of. The Nissan service rep told me that thousands of people have complained, but it is what it is. Had I known this when I was car shopping two and a half years ago, I never would have bought it.
This is possibly the best answer I have read on the issue of Nissan's bad A/C. It makes perfect sense, though. Some modern buildings that have a closed environment often do the exact same thing. Thanks!!!!
Funny I have been fighting with Nissan since April on my A/C. I have taken my 2015 Rogue to the shop 5 times now for them to say "IT IS WORKING FINE" I have taken videos of what my air conditioning does it switches between settings, sounds like the air shuts down and then blows hot air after 3 minutes of blowing cool air, then switches between recirculated air and outside air. It is pretty sad when Master Mechanics can't seem to say there is an issue, but a 14 year old girl says what's wrong with your air conditioning it is blowing hot air? Funny thing is though I guess that the Master Mechanics have not tried googling the issue online or they would know this is a problem. Funny how they even said Ma'am we drove this 200 miles and it works fine. I would have to say this has me so mad that they are out and out lying to the consumers that give them all jobs. I would seriously have to consider not buying anymore Nissan's if this is the type of treatment we get. Obviously if they would read all of these issues, they would think HEY THERE IS A PROBLEM WITH THE AIR UNIT IN THESE VEHICLES. I finally got so frustrated I contacted corporate office and filed a complaint.
They know that it is a problem.
Here in Charlotte, NC, our dealer is working on this problem for the fourth time and has now kept the car four a full three weeks while providing us with a complimentary rental. He has been truly understanding and apparently is in contact with Nissan North America design engineers to ferret out the problem. Fortunately our 2017 is still under factory warranty and the dealership loaned us a new Maxima until the air is fixed.
So I have an update on my 2015 rogue. I have two post already about the problems with my air conditioner. The last fix was an amplifier which worked for about three weeks. I live in Canada and went on holidays to maine and everything worked fine to the point my wife asked me to turn it down she was to cold. then coming home it stopped and that was it. Back to my dealer it went. left it with dealer on Monday aug 21 picked it up today fri aug 25. So they put rogue on diagnostic to read problem codes turned out it was reading codes the mechanic had never seen before. those codes were sent to Nissan tec who I am guessing are the engineers of these vehicles. Turns out they had never seen these codes either. But they know there is a problem and actually have a couple 2015 rogues in there possession that have all the issues we are having and are tearing them down to try and find the issue. So if you are having same issue I am going to dealer right now and just putting on new parts is not going to work. Dealers telling you there is nothing wrong is false information. SO as it stands they are waiting on Nissan tec for and answer for a fix. If one is not found then they will try to work out a deal to take the vehicle off my hands send it to auction and put me in another vehicle. So if you need to show this to your dealer feel free. THERE IS NO FIX AS OF RIGHT NOW. WE have problem vehicles. It may be a while waiting to hear back but if I receive any more info as to a fix or not I will pass it along. Hope this helps.
I even called Nissan headquarters (corporate office) and talked to customer relations about it. The woman put me on hold to talk to one of her engineers, and she got back to me with the same thing that the dealership told me: what the A/C is doing is what it is supposed to do. I talked to the service rep at my dealership, and he said that his Nissan Altima or whatever he had does the same thing, but that hot air doesn't come out, just a "warmer cold air." That's a good way of saying "hot air." Every single person who has been in my car on a summer day asks what is wrong with the A/C. I'm on the verge of trading the car in and getting something else, which is a shame because it only has 25,000 miles on it. The car is great except for the A/C. You wouldn't think that you would have to ask "does this car have an eco-friendly modulating compressor?" when you go car shopping, but now that I have had this issue, I certainly will for future cars. I think everyone who is having this problem should file a complaint with Nissan customer relations. The woman I talked to said that if enough people do so, they will have no choice but to look into it. The dealership told me the same thing, and it could potentially lead to a recall.
Typical cold air in a commercial or residential HVAC system comes out between 52 and 55 degrees, so I would imagine it would be the same for cars. In heating, the air is typically 80 to 85 degrees. I would bet that the temperature that comes out in my car is around 55 at first and then changes to 72 to 75 degrees. I have a temperature gun at home that I plan on using to test this. If it really is that high, it is totally unacceptable.
Same issue just today, 2015 Nissan Rogue, after 5 hrs driving, with one 30 mins stop, AC just stopped working, Temperature was 103F. Had to drive another 2 hours without AC and my kids were sick and that made it even worse. Mileage is about 24K and I don't use much AC either, thus this sucks big time. Will check with dealer and will update n what they say. Anyone else got it fixed?
Have your dealer to check incar temperature sensor or evaporator sensor. if readings are close to 35ºF close to freezing point and freezing evaporator, causing to shut compressor operation. replace evap sensor .
My 2016 Rogue started having AC/heating issues, but is a little different. sometimes the driver's side air is warmer than the passenger side. on cooler days, the driver's side can get warmer than the passenger side. dealership already replaced the driver's side air door mix motor and the AMP unit. that did NOT resolve the issue.

I am running into the same problem on my 2015 Nissan Rouge SL.Not completely sure if this is a fix, but I remember I replaced the carbon filter and the cover was not fitted correctly. Had the same issue again tonight and I removed the cover took the cabin filter and replace the filter cover and as of now everything is working fine. Will let you know if this continues to fix the problem.
You might be correct. I have been suspicious of the cabin filter because of other posts and dealing with our own filter. I will keep an eye on it. I have actually been thinking of removing the filter entirely to see how that plays out. Thanks.
update. my dealer changed out the entire 'heater box'. that seems to have fixed the hot/cold issue on my 2016
Hi, my 2014 Xtrail (Rogue in US) have similar issues; aircon suddenly would not work and blow warm air; the controller switched from internal air circulation to external air; for whatever reason(?). While the blower continues to blow, the aircon would not work; even though the aircon light is ON. Very dangerous situation as cabin gets really hot and humid in summer and when the cold change comes, the windshield will be completely fogged up! I went to Nissan service centre 3x and left the car over-night twice. First time Nissan changed the whole compressor – didn’t solve it, then they changed the A/C relay; but all were misdiagnosed, so the issue remains. Since the diagnostic codes does not make sense to the technician; during my third visit, he did the conventional step by step trouble shooting. A total of 5 days of trouble shooting and finally determined the fault at evaporator sensor. A week past now and the a/c is looking good – no more ficky intermittent a/c! If anyone of you see this symptom, go and tell the service workshop that it could be and probably is a faulty evaporator sensor. I’m surprised that Nissan did not have a complete Failure Mode Engineering Analysis on this system – it would have saved them and everyone millions of $ and time.
I have read each and everyone's comments on this problem. I have the Nissan Rogue 2015 and ever since I bought it, very similar problems was existing.My only problem is that I have already put almost 150,000 miles and the Rogue is not covered. Nissan Dealership want to charge the Diagnose of $140.00 and don't understand why when they have to market the car and so many users having the same issues. The air would not blow inside the car either hot or cold and when checking under the hood, the compressor pipes are so cold as ice. I can hear the air blowing noise but don't feel at all coming in. Talked to one of the mechanics and mention that may be the wind blow outlet must be shut. So will do the check and will post the results. I will not go to the dealership at all.
Oh dear, this is very distressing. We've been trying to buy a Rogue(2014-16) and this is the first I've heard of the a/c problem. We live in Phoenix, AZ so good a/c is crucial. Any idea if this problem is relative to where the vehicle is made? I previously owned a Ford with airbag recalls and the one's made in Mexico did not have the issue.
I have been following this issue for over a year. IMO, please be careful and read all the posts regarding the Rogue's AC problems.

Hello. I have already written about this issue with my 2015 rogue air conditioner problem in September. I decided last week to call Nissan Canada just to let them know of my situation in case they are keeping track of those having problems. So I talked to a lady who was very nice she listened to my concern and told me I would be contacted within three to five working days by a representative about my issue. A few days later I was contacted and I again explained my issue with her. She told me she would look into it and call me back. Two days later she did call back as promised. She had contacted my dealer to find out what work had been done. She also talked to Nissan Teck people and the engineers of the vehicle. I was told flat out that there is a problem and that they are still trying to figure it out but at this time they still do not know why or what is causing it If and when it is sorted out they will contact me. You can also go on Nissan Bulletins for updates on Nissan problems. That being said I am no farther ahead then where I was in September. But I do think it would be a good idea to call Nissan if you have this issue to make them aware of how many there are with this issue. Sorry this is all the news I have as of now. If I ever get a fix I will let inform this group.
This problem, IMO, has to be a computer/software issue. If it was a hardware issue, I think it would have been solved a long time ago.

Which is exactly what mine is like, then like what I said before, it was diagnosed and now confirmed for almost a month now, to be due to a faulty evaporator sensor! If you see my reply above, this could not be diagnosed using Nissan's diagnostics - tried with 3 full days; probably due to poor FMEA preparation. My local Nissan here was good enough to decide to fault find my car using traditional trouble shooting by part replacement - for two more full days! Believe me, you could be fooled that it is a computer/software issue, as the system is so integrated that a simple failing part will exhibit complex control behaviour. If you see the same symptom as you see in this youtube, ask to have your evaporator sensor replaced - it only costs <$100 - not much to lose.... If yours work out, please tell me, cause I want to know.....

I was having the same issue with my 2016 Rogue still on warranty. Took it to the dealership twice. First time said no Freon so they did whatever to put Freon in and still didn’t work so I took it back. Now they are saying that there is a small pinhole in the condenser that was caused by a stone flying up and hitting it so it’s not covered by warranty. Does anyone know if that is even possible?
Check if condenser is working by touching the pipes, one side should be cool. I don't think its condenser, its thermostat
Thank you Avinesh. Just heard from the insurance company that there was indeed a hole in a pipe in the condenser. He took photos for me and they will pay to fix it except for my deductible.
Our 2017 rogue just did this today while on the interstate in 90 degree temperatures. We stopped at a rest stop and popped the good to find a considerable amount of ice built up on the lines. My husband removed the ice and the a.c. immediately started working again. So ever 30 minutes or so we would have to turn off the a.c. to let the lines melt and turn back in. We just bought this in Dec and has 5000 miles on. We will be calling our local dealer tomorrow
Your line is at least cold; mine was completely hot. So, I think your problem may just be the thermocouple/thermostat. Tell us how you go. I hope it is quickly resolved under warranty.
Daughter has a 2018 Rogue Sport , she traded in a 2017 Nissan Versa the versa had the same problem now the rogue has the same problem , so by the looks of it this has been happening for atleast 4 years and nissan still doesnt have a clue
Took my 2015 in for probably the fourth time in the last three years to have them look at it again. I even suggested to them beforehand this time that it could either be the thermostat or evaporator sensor, because the previous times they told me there's nothing wrong and it's doing what it's supposed to do. So magically, as soon as my three-year warranty expires (literally one month after), they find the problem and fix it. They told me the temperature sensor for the cabin had not been calibrated correctly. So far, I have not had any issues, but it's only been three days since they fixed it. To recap in case you guys don't feel like going back to read my previous posts, my issue was that cold air would come out for about a minute, then warm air would blow for about two to five minutes, then the cold air would kick back on, and so on. Not fun having warm air blow on you when it's 100 degrees outside. The dealership told me each time I brought it in that there wasn't an issue and that everything was fine. They also claimed to not be able to duplicate the issue every time.
I'll bet Ignacio could figure this out in about 2 seconds. If you really like the vehicle that much, try taking it to an expert independent shop. They must know more than these wacky dealers !

I bought a Nissan Murano, brand new, 2018 last week. The AC was blowing cold air and then it was hot. I am truly annoyed. They initially told me they did not have a loaner for me and I had to pay $144. I noticed it the same day I got it but I thought it was operator error. This is ridiculous! Its gotta be some kind of defect!
I had the same issue with my 2015 rogue S. They changed an intake temperature sensor and it fixed the problem. Drove it twice for 5 hrs and no issues so far.
I have posted a number of times on this site about my air conditioner woes. Last time in Sept I said my rogue was in for a week and it was reading codes that they had not seen before so I was waiting on them with a fix. Well at that time I was not aware that they had changed another part to try and fix the problem. Well it is now Aug 1st and we have had a hot and muggy July here in eastern Canada and I am happy to say my air conditioner is working perfect. I have been using it almost everyday all July and just got back from a 5 hour drive from nova scotia and it ran the whole time no issues. No buttons changing themselves no blowing warm air. The part they changed was a Intake Temp Sensor. Not sure if this is a fix for your rogue but as of today mine has been working perfect. After having it in the shop on 5 different occasions and all the parts that they changed this one seems to have worked for my rogue. hope this may help someone else.

I just brought my 2015 Nissan Rogue in today. I was running air yesterday and all of sudden the car got very humid and then it started blowing hot air. I tried to switch setting and then turned the unit off and on to no avail. I eventually just had to open the windows. AC worked normally later that day. The dealer just called and said they got reading that the sun load sensor is bad. They are replacing it. Hope this works but I am not optimistic after reading through the message board. Also, I only had 35,000 miles but was over 3 years so no warranty coverage!
To GuruV5MZN The work order is a bit hard to read but I believe this is the number 27723-4BUOA intake temperature sensor for hvac system. This is for a 2015 Rogue SL If this number makes no sense let me know and I will go to dealer and get the right one. Hope this helps. Ps my air conditioner is still working good.
I just picked up by 2015 Nissan Rogue. Air worked well on the way back to work. They actually replaced the intake sensor part 27723-4BU0A. The notes said evaporator temp sensor was reading 14 degrees, therefore A/C control unit thought evaporator was froze up and was disabling the a/c compressor. Sounds plausible based on what was happening. Since my air did work at times, I will update after a week of driving.

Follow up on the 2015 Nissan Rogue. It has been almost a week now and I drove a lot this weekend when it was hot and sunny, no issues. It looks like the intake sensor part 27723-4BUOA fixed the issue.
I have had the same issue and the same part above fixed it, I had been going through this for months, the dealer really did a number on us.

The sad part about all this is the trouble we all had to go through. For me I'm into my third summer. I also feel kinda bad for the dealers they had no direction on what to repair so they just kept changing parts hoping to finally get it right. The makers of these vehicles Nissan Canada here should of been calling each of us with the repair part number and sending us to our dealers with a free repair if we were over on warranty. Very disappointed with Nissan in general as a company. Oh well what can you do. Thank goodness for sites like this one.
I agree 100% . I have an extended warranty but the dealer already charged me once 2hrs for diag and a few days with the rogue . It got me no where . Just a $250.00 bill . Plus I have a $100.00 deductible on repairs . The part only cost me $20 from the dealer .
FYI ... It is my understanding that the part referenced is buried in the heater box inside the dash and would require a lot of labor to replace.
My total bill was just under $200 and included an oil change.
I haven't checked yet but it looks like it's opposite to the cabin filter .
Update the part just came in . I installed it and a new cabin filter which was harder to replace .
Drivers center lower panel has to be removed
^^ Feel for the clip with your fingers and pull back . Then grab the panel near the shifter and gently pull apart .
This is the infamous 27723-4BUOA. Grab and rotate counter clockwise. Pull the sensor out and use a small flat head screwdriver , knife or key (is what I used) to remove the connector.
It took me 5 minutes. The air was colder instantly. Like I said the cabin filter was more trouble .
Searched Forums for days, and finally found one saying replace Ambient Air Temp sensor located in front of radiator behind grill, did that OEM 27710-31U00 but did not help. Then found one post with pictures of Evap Sensor and it's behind the panel at the drivers accelerator pedal and it took literally 1 minute to expose the Evap Sensor and one quick counter clockwise twist and it was out and then took longer to carefully pry the catch for the electrical connection off then replace with new one and it's in such a confined space i had to use a screwriver to twist it clockwise to make it catch on its detent. AND VOILA put plastic piece back on and the whole process would take 2 minutes if i had done it before, and the AC is blowing cold air perfectly so far and its been two days and a couple of hours of driving with the AC on. Many complaints about lots of various years of Nissan vehicles not just Rogues and the dealers are replacing Compressors entire AC Heat Boxes Ambient Air Sensors and in this case the one part the EVAP Sensor was all it took. Hope people find this solution as i didn't bookmark the one that i found with pictures of the part and where it goes and i looked for quite a while yesterday b4 making this post. Good LUCK !

I also searched for days on this issue. Our 2014 Rogue would randomly switch between recirculate and flow-through. When it did the the air coming out would be warm. Hitting the A/C button on and off cycles the compressor but the air is still warm. The evaporator wasn’t freezing up because the issue would randomly start when we first started in the morning as well. I also ordered the 277234BU0A from eBay for $21. Hopefully this fixes the issue. I will report back if it does.
Hi, I've got the same problem as all of you, right down to the switching between inside and outside air when on manual settings and the same dealer frustrations. I asked the dealer if he would simply replace the evaporator sensor and he refused. Insisted he had to run his diagnostics. I asked how the diagnostics would check the sensor. He did not know, but said they would find anything not right. My husband bought the comprehensive extended warranty - but apparently they won't pay for diagnosis until after the diagnosis has found something wrong???? Anyhow, he finally did agree to do the diagnostic test no charge, and of course found nothing wrong. Not a hot day and he said he could not replicate. So, I was all set to order this part and try it myself, but not knowing much about autos, I mentioned what I was about to do to some friends. I have 2 different men telling me to not do this myself, as the evaporator sensor should be under pressure and I will release freon. They are both telling me to take it to someone that will back the freon out of the system first, change the sensor, and then put the freon back in. For those of you that have done this already - did you find any concerns about releasing freon? Are you happy with the way the AC is working since you did it? Thanks so much for all of you that have posted so far and for those of you sharing the results of replacing the evaporator sensor. From you all, I know what I need to do and now I just need to figure out how to best get it done.
The Evaporative Thermistor sensor is located in the drivers foot well just behind the front most panel it pulls off easily and anyone and i mean anyone can replace the part no pressure at all in the system there it sits in the airway to sense the temperature of the air there. The only trick is it is hard to turn it clockwise to get it to lock the little stop tab in place, now that i have done it once it would take 4 minutes to do the second time. I had replaced the ambient air sensor behind the front grill as my first try then this evaporative Thermistor which cost $17.50 shipped to me solved the problem immediately and the AC has worked perfectly since and its been a month of hot and humid weather.
Hey guys! So i changed the sensor mention on previous post and its working now!! @SusanE don't worry, its very simple to replace, no presure running. I do suggest to have the car turned off. Just simply take the plastic cover next to the gas pedal and you will see the small sensor, turn counter clock to pull out. Unclip the sensor, and clip the new one. Mine came with 2 small rubber rings, i left one on. Aline the sensor to the plastic holes and twist clock wise! Thats it put the plastic cover back. 3 days running perfect so far.

I posted over a week ago about replacing the 27723-4BU0A in my 2015 Nissan Rogue. Air is still cold and we’ve had no issues since replacing. It was very very simple to replace.

Evaporative Thermistor is a $18 part that takes 5 minutes to install right behind the drivers accelertor pedal. So the part came and I have installed it. Thanks to all of you !!! .............Following the pics and directions posted above in this thread, things went pretty easily. The only issue I had was getting the old part unclipped. Unfortunately I broke the old part to get it out - not that it matters, since it is just going to be tossed, I just would have preferred to get it out clean. ................. Everything seems to be working great again. I have not had the issue since I installed the new sensor. We have not had a 90's or above day since the part came, but everything is looking good! ................. and as far as the comment as to why the dealer would not change it - what can I tell you - I was a woman quoting info found on the internet - he was not impressed . . . but I will be letting him know that I fixed the problem.

OMG! Bought the Nissan Rogue in 2014 and had this problem on my first road trip in May 2018. I am now experiencing the no air blowing and no AC! I will try to find someone to install the new sensor! Thanks Everyone!

Mechengineer_01 I have a 2015 Xtrail in Australia which is the Rogue in USA, which did the no a/c trick about 9 months ago. Nissan immediately replaced the sensor as discussed above and no more issues until today when it did it again. No option but to continue the road trip at high temp. but when I turned the a/c off and left the fan running with virtually no air coming out, the air flow slowly increased over about 10 minutes up to full flow. Whilst the air was progressively increasing in volume I noticed the air temp was not the same as the outside air which was 90 F. It was cooler by a large margin. Figured it out, the condenser coil had frozen up and totally blocked all air flow. By turning off the a/c it thawed out and let the air flow again. I had been running the a/c flat out in recirculate mode. I left it in fresh air mode and turned the a/c back on and had no more freezing issue for the next few hours of the trip. Lesson: don’t run continuously in recirculate mode for a long time.
Am going crazy with the heating problems I am having with my 2017 Nissan Rouge Sport. I bought the car in August 2018, new, with 200 miles on it. It now has 5000 miles on it. I only have it 5 months and I am having serious problems with the heat since the winter months arrived. Am really not sure how the AC works as I only drove it for a few weeks at the end of the summer. Most of the complaints on this website site is about AC so I don’t see many complaints about the heat. Am pretty sure if the heat is not working correctly then I will have a problem with the AC in a few months, if I keep this car. Firstly the fan speed works whenever it feels like it. Sometimes I have the heat up to 80 degrees or higher and the car is roasting and the fan speeds will not lower down by itself or in Auto mode. This usually happens at 5 AM, when am on my way to work and after I auto started the car twice. Usually on the way home, the fan speed does work by itself AND when it’s in the Auto mode. Other times when the heat is on, 3 out of the 4 front vents throw out cool air, usually after 20 minutes or so. The front driver side middle vent usually continues to throws out warm air when this happens. It doesn’t make any difference whether the air is on the intake mode or recirculating mode. It also does not make a difference if the fan speed mode is manual or Auto mode. It doesn’t make any difference whether the air flow is on feet only, feet and defrost, or feet and face mode. When I do leave it on Auto mode, the air flow defaults to feet mode ONLY. When the air starts throwing out cool air, my feet gets freezing. I usually turn the heat off at this stage and turn it back on again, a few minutes later. This is so distracting. I am constantly checking the air flow and changing the temperature settings. I am going to get myself into an accident. I took the car to Nissan after I read the complaints on this website. As predicted, as everyone said, they could not duplicate the problem. They drove the car for about 15 minutes and left it running in the shop for nearly an hour. So after waiting for 4 hours on my day off, nothing was resolved. Yes, they also give me the line about not having a diagnostic code for the temperature sensor. They suggested I leave it overnight for a manager to drive home. I may still do that, so long as the manager drives it 20+ miles each way. I am very frustrated with this problem on my new car. But because it’s intermittently, the Nissan mechanic may never find the problem. Is there anyone on this site, CarGurus, that can help me with this problem? The part that was recommend, 27723-4BUOA, that’s for the Temp sensor, right? Or do I need an evaporator sensor as well? Does anybody know if it will work for a 2017 Rouge sport? If it does, can I just order the part from Nissan and get my own mechanic to install it? (With the help of the photos someone posted)If I can’t get my own mechanic to fix it, then am just going to sell the car and buy a Honda CRV. I will never buy a Nissan again. I do love everything else about the car.
To RosieFly. There is a Nissan Bulletin out about this problem. The bulletin is (SB 2014-2017 Rogue Manual Hvac Improper operation NTB15045 ) Give this number to your dealer and they can look it up themselves and see the fix from nissan. find it funny they don't just check this themselves. If your vehicle is under warranty this work should all be covered. If you need to check on other issues go to nissan bulletins and it gives a run down of other problems with nissans. Had to use it a couple times for my vehicle. hope this helps.
Mark, thank you very much for the information. I found the bulletin and printed it. It is very similar to the problem am having. It says in the bulletin that it's an issue with the Rouge 2014 & 2015. I think if I bring the bulletin to them, they will say my 2017 Rouge is not covered by it. I still think it may me the issue in the bulletin. But it may also be the temp sensor. Can you help me one more time ? is the Temp sensor the same part as the evaporator sensor ? Or are they 2 different parts ? I may still go ahead and buy it, if it's only $20 and put it in myself or ask my mechanic to put it in. Thank you again Mark.

RosieFly. Service Bulletin number NTB15045 is for 2014 to 2017 so you should be good. To answer your second question I believe these are different parts. The one causing all the issues is on my work order as an intake temp sensor # 27723-4buoa. I might add that a friend had to have his mother board changed also which is expensive but all under warranty. I would start with the 20 dollar intake sensor first it seems to be the general cause. Because of the Bulletin parts and labour should all be free. .All the work I have had done was done no charge to me...Hope this helps.. And the name is David....

Just an FYI. replaced the evap sensor, same as pictured above, and it fixed the heating problem my mother was experiencing on her 2015 rogue. I know this is an a/c message board, but just wanted to throw that out there since there are a lot of heater issues, and complaints with this particular vehicle. And right now in Michigan, we're a bit more concerned with heat than A/C. lol. thanks to those above for the pics and instructions. Much more helpful than the dealership.

I've been having the same problem as described by GuruDWV19 with my 2015 Rogue. Suddenly the blowers just cut off. The temp doesn't change, I just get practically no air flow from the vents. You can still hear the blower motor going as you try to turn them higher but it's like 1% air flow. It will randomly cut off and then randomly come back on. This is terrible on a long drive on the highway. I'm not sure if the evap sensor mentioned here addresses my problem. I've had it at the dealer 3 or 4 times and they can't figure it out. Has anyone come across a fix for this? Thank you so much for any help.
I still have not got around to ordering the part. I will be using my AC very soon and I want to see if I have issues with that before I change the Temp sensor myself. I will get back to you.
My 2015 Nissan Rogue's AC stopped working sporadically in summer 2018 and now (2019) is not working at all. Last year, restarting the car seemed to get it to start working again sometimes. Now, the AC never works. Toggling Recirculated or MaxAC does not help. Following suggestions on this thread, I replaced the evap sensor (thermistor probe) (part #27723-4BU0A) today, but there was no improvement.
The problem the evaporative sensor fixes was described very well in Martin's post and his link to a video. Because it is sporadic, it is never replicable by the dealer. It doesn't sound like those symptoms fit for you, so it is not surprising that the solution didn't work. In my case, my symptoms were identical and the solution worked. In your case, with the ac never working, the dealer should be able to replicate the issue. What did they say when you had them run their diagnostics?

Thank you. I took it in for repair and the system was diagnosed as having a coolant leak in the condenser. They recharged the coolant and replaced the condenser for about $700 total. The AC has been working well since then (3 days).

I have had AC problems in my 3015 Rogue practically since I bought it in 2015. You guys fixed my AC better than 4 mechanics and the dealership could. part #27723-4BU0A Was so easy to get to, I popped off the panel, pulled out the probe, wiped it off a few times on my T-shirt and blew in it, the AC immediately went back to being cold and the fans blowing hard. I did order a new one on eBay for $23 and I’ll replace it when it comes in to be safe but as of now, my old part is working wonderfully.
Similar problems with my 2015 Rogue with 25k miles. Problem only started two weeks ago. I decided to try putting some Freon into the system as I suspected a leak. I warmed up car, turned the system to full blast and opened the doors. Reading was normal but the condenser only came on after a few minutes. System continues work sporadically. Ordered the part referenced above on EBay. Will install when it gets here. On my car I have two screws that need to be removed before the panel can be removed. They are located in the lower left hand box which contains gas and hood unlock levers. Thanks for all the help and good luck to all!
For the part being talked about in this thread, there is no need to remove screws. I have a 2015 roque. There is a post above with a picture and the text "Feel for the clip with your fingers and pull back . Then grab the panel near the shifter and gently pull apart ." That is the only piece you need to remove to access the part. No screws involved. We have been up in the 100's and my ac is still working great after replacing just this part. Problem this part fixes is documented in a video in the above thread as well.
Spot on Susan! I was looking at the wrong panel under the dash instead of on the shift column.It came off fairly easily. Thanks again.

Just to reinforce the thread on this temperature sensor, my 2015 Xtrail (Rouge) had the sensor replaced twice and the last one the Nissan service center took one out of a new vehicle to put it in mine. Surprised to find the a/c doing all things wrong as described in this thread. I convinced the Nissan service manager to look at it again and he put a monitor on the 3 temp sensors, out side air, outside evaporator and inside condenser. He found the (new) inside sensor reading -20 degrees C whilst the others were at about +14C. Another new sensor fitted and all good so far.
There is a lot of redundance in this system. It does have a refrigerant control valve in the compressor AND a thermal amplifier in the evaporator (thermostat). The former is supposed to take care of freeze ups and compressor cutting off. The problem, assuming your system pressures are correct (the refrigerant control valve fails a lot in Sentras and Altimas), is the thermostat
GuruH4FW8, I am missing the point of your post in regards to this thread. For clarity, the a/c problem clearly demonstrated in the video linked to by Martin ( https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nid5hOF-r5g ) is fixed by a part referred to in this thread as an "evaporative sensor". When you actually go to buy it, you will be looking for this name and part number - Nissan 277234BU0A Genuine OEM Thermister Probe. IF YOUR SYMPTOMS DON'T MATCH THE VIDEO, you have a different problem and will probably need a different fix.

ISSUE: compressor cuts off at highway speeds or out of the blue, but otherwise, A/C cools fine. REMEDY: replace the evapoirator temperature sensing probe (thermostar, thermal amplifier, or whatever is called). It is accessed by the driver side, by the accelerator pedal.
Bought a used 2016 Nissan Rouge which I absolutely love. The problem is the A/C does NOT work. Dealer sent me to the mechanic who said the Compressor was defective and had it replaced along with a Switch that needed replacing. After having my vehicle at the mechanic for three days, I finally picked it up and it was working. Drove off to work and the A/C stopped working. Mechanic said that it shuts down so that the Compressor will not burn out. It's only two weeks since I've had this vehicle and I need the AC. Will call the dealer and suggest replacing the "Evaporator Sensor". Really hopes this help.
Many thanks to GuruV5MZN and others on this board for posting pics of the sensor's location behind the driver's side accelerator pedal console. The pics really made this job easy. Our 2015 Rogue has the same AC problems described above but had been in a front end wreck before we bought it so didn't know if the AC problems were due to the wreck or other reasons. (The numerous blog posts here helped confirm that the problem appears to stem from a faulty sensor.) Last week, the dealer replaced a bent high pressure AC line from the collision, low pressure AC line, and AC pressure switch in the engine compartment but the intermittent AC issues didn't correct. The AC problem wouldn't replicate for the dealer today so the dealer told us to keep the car and drive until the problem worsens and bring it back for further testing. Instead, I bought the sensor and installed thanks to the pics and posts on this blog. Hopefully, this corrects the problem.

We have a 2014 rogue and we have had nothing but problems with our air conditioner. We have it in the shop numerous times and they always said it was fixed but never was. NOW they are telling me that the heater/AC box needs to be replaced at a cost to us of $2000. Needless to say, we'll not be purchasing a Nissan or taking anything into their service department ever again. This was handled so poorly I'm taking all of these notes to our trusted mechanic and I'm guessing he'll fix it. Should have taken it to him first. We''ve been way to patient and have been treated very poorly by Nissaa
So, as suggested for my 2016 Nissan Rouge which I purchased three weeks ago,as suggested I gave the dealer the part number - Nissan 277234BU0A for the evaportor sensor which they purchased, and it was installed by the mechanic. (hoping this is the correct part number for my 2016 Nissan Rouge) The AC worked perfectly for two days, then stopped working for another two days during a heat wave, then it starts working again out of the blue. Don't know what's going on but it seems like it has a mind of its own. Dealer not sure what the problem is especially when it worked fine when I went back to them and also visited the mechanic on the same day. Mechanic said I would have to leave it with him for another two days to see what's going on. Any other suggestions on what may be causing the AC to work intermittently on my 2016 Nissan Rouge?

So, NO AC today in my 2016 Nissan Rouge as I drove to work, yet the AC worked fine yesterday when I went back to the dealership where I purchased it. NO AC as temperature registered 94 degrees inside the vehicle, and I'm driving with sweat running down my face and my back :(. Will they EVER find a fix for this AC problem?? It's been 3 weeks since I made this purchase, and already thinking of trading it in for something else.
I replaced the ambient air temp sensor located out front of the Radiator , taking the grill apart was easy but the part had to be cut out as it was a one and done type of connector but just the ambient air temp sensor did not fix the problem so then i replaced the evaporative Thermistor that you stated you did and it has worked perfectly ever since over a year.........good luck
Hi Randy. First, the Compressor was changed because it was defective, then the Evaporator Sensor was changed and the AC worked fine for two days then stopped, and started again then stopped again :(. Based on what I've read, I'm wondering if changing the Heat Box woild make a difference.
So, I read somewhere from this feed that just allowing outside air to run for a few minutes, then turning the AC on helped solve their AC problem.. Decided to try it and PRESTO, it's been working beautifully for the last three days and hope it continues. Dealership expecting me today, and will still take it in anyway. Hope this helps somebody as much as it helped me. Thanks to this feed I'm starting to ENJOY driving my 2016 Nissan Rouge.
Hi all! First, thank you all for your input to this topic, info that saved me when A/C died on the hottest day of the summer. Nissan X-trail Rogue 2015 T32 Aircondition compressor first started to work erratically, going on off during commuting. Then, it would work for first 10 seconds after starting the car, and then only warm moist air would come out. The issue was this very same evaporator sensor. I didn't have new evaporator sensor at hand, so I used 2Kohm resistor, I plugged it into the connector instead of sensor and the A/C now blows ice cold air. (1KOHM will not work!) The funny thing is, when I test the sensor with my resistance meter, it seems to be OK, showing about 1.45kohm when warmed up by my breath.
I have had this issue and admit not reading this entire thread.. however - I have discovered that if I do no turn on the AC and just use the auto feature - I get amazing ac. I vaguely remember the dealer insisting this is just the best way to use it and over the years I started pressing the actual AC button.... this year it started off and on it would happen 10 times during a 15 minute car ride. Since I started using the auto feature it has not shut off once. It has been 4 days. Here's hoping... :)
So, my AC working perfectly on my 2016 Nissan Rouge for 4 straight days. I took it to the repair shop reluctantly because they were expecting me, and I wanted to make sure everything was ok. After leaving it for 2 days, no problems were found and so I drove off thinking that everything was alright. Well, the AC worked for 1 day ONLY and have not worked since. NOW WHAT??? Dealer is not offering a loaner and so I have to take an Uber or public transporation to work whenever I have to leave my Rouge in the repair shop. GuruHGzP9. I keep thinking that I tried this to no avial, but will try it again. Thanks for the suggestion.

I am having the same issue as GuruDWV19. Anyone else have the AC work and then randomly stop blowing air (evening though you can still hear the fan running). Only happens when on extended trips. GuruDWV19, did you ever get your issue fixed?
Same problem. Same screw around by Nissan.Hot days, long drives and aircon blower is on full throttle...I can hear it, but nothing coming out. Let it rest and it starts working again. Started while still under warranty but now it's past it's warranty and the dealer is taking me to the cleaners. So, today I am taking my 2016 Nissan Rouge to the repair shop AGAIN and it's going to be the FINAL time for me. Everytime I drive, I get to my destination in sweats and I no longer want to drive this vehicle. Someone needs to start a class action lawsuit so that an investigation can be done with all the Nissan AC problems. Will be looking into the lemon law here in NY especially since I've only owned this vehicle since July 9, 2019. I'm READY for a Class Action Lawsuit.
Yes, its moving slowley here up North "Your safety-related defect complaint has been received by Transport Canada’s Defect Investigations and Recalls Division. Your confirmation number is 2019-xxx...." They rang me up, found the Nissan Service Bulleting NTB15-045A and are looking in to it, it will take time!
Just a follow up - Using the auto didnt work out long term for me - I purchased the Part No.: 27723-4BU0A SENSOR ASSY, INTAKE and just put it in - OK my husband did - but I watched - it was easy to install - Hoping it works :) Will update
So, today makes it 7 days since I've been without my 2016 Nissan Rouge, because it has been at the auto mechanic shop trying to solve the no AC issue. I've told them I do not want it back until they fix the AC problem. With no loaner, I've had to take public transportation back and forth to work which is quite annoying. Will update when they call me for pick up, and hope there are no AC issues thereafter.

So, after my 2016 Nissan Rouge was in the repair shop for a FULL 7 days, I was called on Thursday and was told that it was ready for pickup. Picked it up yesterday morning (9/20/19) and the AC is working PERFECTLY and hopes it continues. The used car dealership tried to get me to pay for the repairs, but after stating that I would contact my lawyer, they called and say that would pay for it . . . UNBELIEVABLE. In any event, according to the Mechanic, "it was an electrical problem" which most mechanics would not have found. He went on to say that he had to do it his way, and not the way the dealership wanted him to do it, and now I can drive it through their window. LOL. He also assured me that I will NOT be having the AC problem anymore, and I pray that will be so :) :). He also stated that a Nissan Dealership would have chared me an arm and a leg and possibly still not find the problem. WOW! Well, all I can say is that it's working nicely so far. If after replacing several parts and still there's no fix, then maybe it's an electrical issue. I would recommend anyone to this mechanic if you ive in the Brooklyn, NY area. Good luck to ALL who is still working on resolving there AC issues.

@Chollymo. The only thing the Mechanic said when I asked him about the issue of no AC, was that "it was an electrical problem". He only said "it was fixed and I won't be having the issue anymore". He had many other vehicles to tend to and he talked fast. After 7 days of not having my 2016 Nissan Rouge, it was enough for me. He did say that he had to order a Part and so, I will ask him what Part it was and will let you know.

So, as previously mentioned that my 2016 Nissan Rouge was at the Mechanic's repair shop for 7 straight days, and was told that "it was an electrical problem", and that "I won't be having the issue anymore", etc. Well, it is with GREAT dissapointment that today (Sunday, 9/22/19) when the temperature was 85 degrees, HOT AIR was blowing when I DESPERATELY needed the AC to work. I was sweating so much that I felt weak and drained, so much so that I almost fell asleep behind the wheel as I was driving. The AC worked nicely on Friday morning when I drove to work after getting the call that the repair was done. It also worked nicely on Saturday and that was it. I don't think there's any more fixing for me and will be talking to my lawyer as I think this 2016 Nissan Rouge is a LEMON. It never worked when I drove it off the lot on July 9, 2019, and now feel duped because I listened to the used car dealership who said that cold air would start to blow out as I'm driving. CLEARLY, something is wrong and I don't think they will ever find a fix unless there's a recall. I'm DONE!!

@Chollymo. So, I called the Mechanic and he was quite suprised to hear that the AC was NOT working again. Asked that I bring it in so he can look at it which I did. While driving to him the AC came on for five minutes and shut down again. He checked EVERYTHING to see what is causing the no AC problem. The conclusion is that the Nissan Evaporator itself is defective and until it's REPLACED, no amount of fix will resolve the problem. He also said that the Evaporator needs to be replaced with a newer model and with cost and labor, it can run about $2,000 or more. He suspected that Nissan is not doing a recall because it will cost them $$$$$ which is probably why they haven't acted. I called the NHTSA here in NY and was told that it is not a safety issue. I was referred to the Consumer Protection Agency (1-800-697-1220). You then have to visit their website (www.dos.ny.gov) to fill out an electronic form. I also called the Lemon Bureau (212-416- 8314) and was referred to their website as well (www.ny.ag.gov). Look for "Resources", then "Lemon Law' then Form. I completely filled out the form and emailed it to them. Apparently, there is a $150 fee but you only send it when you hear from them.
Update on my post about 2 months ago. I replaced the evaporator sensor (27723- 4BUOA) at that time per GuruV5MZN's instructions and pics. The Rogue AC has operated flawlessly since. [GuruHHt86, has your mechanic replaced this sensor? If not, perhaps he could given its nominal cost and ease of installation prior to replacing the entire evaporator.]
@GuruHRRHR. The evaporator sensor was replaced and my Nissan Rouge worked nicely for four strait days then it stopped working. The compressor was also changed and it worked for about 2 days, and I think it was changed two times because it burned out two times. After that it did not work well, and right now it just does NOT work after having it at the mechanic for seven straight days. According to the mechanic, the Evaporator itself is defective and causes the AC to shut down. Every fix will always be short term until the Evaporator is replaced with a newer model.
GuruHHT86 this is a safety issue, people report car windows misting up during heavy rain events, so I would go back to NHTSA and say hey this just happended to me, could not see on the highway, I became a danger to myself and others

How many people leave there kids in the car and when your aircon is working, windows up ? This is a DEADLY serious issue. GuruHHT86 Call your Congressional rep or send them a registered mail. Tell them that you and any other victims of their inaction will hold them civilly liable.

I did call them and while describing the no AC issue, they cut me off saying that it is not a safety issues and I was referred to Consumer Protection Agency, and the Lemon Law Agency. @GuruHHRHR. I would still try again and this time the first words out of my mouth would be "I nearly killed someone, these cars are going to kill someone" followed by "the windows misted up, saw brakes lights.....etc."
@GuruT2618 it sounds like mal·fea·sance /ˌmalˈfēzəns/ Learn to pronounce nounLAW wrongdoing, especially by a public official. Call your Congress member. Copy the head of the NHTSA. Tell them you want a fair hearing. Ask them how many times kids die in over heated cars ? And of course add your own points. Can't drive a car safely without defogging.

Just wanted to report my 2015 Nissan Rogue has both heating and cooling issues. I had noticed it wasn't really warm or really cold while under warranty but now it has died entirely. Am told that the gear that controls the blend door is stripped and the car can't move from hot to cold and back again. Currently it has no heat. Will be $1700 to replace the A/C assembly PN:27210-4BU0A. I won't be buying another Nissan again.
Is not the A/C is the blower panel that stops working .

I have the same problem as most of you. I ordered the part. But I wanted to go outside and see if I can find it. I drove to the beach today and the ac stopped working all day. Anyway long store short. I took out the sensor and put it back in and bam AC is back. I will be replacing it. But I know there is a short in the sensor harness probably from being pressed up against the panel.

THE PROBLEM IS A FAULTY SENSOR IN THE HEATER BOX! I've been pestered by an intermittent a/c in my 2011 Nissan Juke that usually rears its ugly head only after the car has been sitting in for awhile in the hot sun. I took it in for service 4 times but by the time that the techs got around to looking at it the car had cooled off and the a/c would work for them without a hitch. An independent mechanic told me that he had a customer with the same issue and after tinkering with it for days he said that he found the problem. He told me that there is a sensor inside the heater box and wasn't even mentioned in the service manuals and that when he replaced the entire heater unit the problem was finally solved. I mentioned this info to the Nissan dealer when I brought it in for the fifth time. They were not able to duplicate the problem and handed the car back to me later in the day....HOWEVER...as I drove off the dealer's parking lot the a/c refused to work again so I immediately turned the car around and brought it into the service bay where the service advisor saw and felt for himself that the unit was blowing hot air and not cooling. With the engine still running he immediately took the car back to the a/c mechanic in the back of the shop. His diagnosis? A faulty sensor in the heater box! He said that right after he hooked up his diagnostic equipment he saw that a sensor in the heater box was giving a false reading. It was reading that the temperature inside the cabin was cold and turned on the heater function which effectually neutralized the cooling function of the a/c. The frustrating part about this issue is that problem does not always occur when the car has been sitting in the hot sun. I feel that in view of how many folks have been having this problem Nissan should be aware by now of this faulty, hard to pin down, heater sensor unit. I have a warranty on this car and now will have to fight with them to approve repairs on a sensor issue that could not be duplicated in front of the adjuster even though both the service advisor and the a/c tech saw and experienced the problem for themselves. I hope that my post helps folks convince their Nissan dealers to fix this sensor problem once and for all.
I have changed my sensor and i still have the same problem with my 2010 Nissan Rogue. I have tried every suggestion I have found.

"Joe"...I am in the United States of America and in the state of Arizona. THE INTERMITTENT A/C PROBLEM IN MY 2011 NISSAN JUKE HAS BEEN FIXED! Lamb Nissan (the Nissan dealer here in Prescott, Arizona Tel: 928-717-2289 Fax 928-708- 1400) replaced part number 272101KM5C Blower Assy - Air Conditioner which I was told consists of the Heater Blower unit and the A/C Expansion Valve and that took care of the problem! What a difference it has made! Now when I start up the car in spite of the temperature being 98 degrees Farenheit outside and very hot internal cabin WITHIN SECONDS the A/C unit starts to blow cold air. The A/C now cools so well that within minutes the cabin gets so cold that I have to readjust the temperature. I am posting this information for the benefit of all Nissan Juke owners that have been suffering with the same issue.
Hi all ... another U.S. 2015 Rogue A/C fed-up frustrated user with the same mystery ailment. About a year ago from this forum (thank you all!) I had replaced the inside driver side Evap Sensor and it seemed to do the trick for a small while and then the hot air after 20 minutes driving set back in. I replaced with another "new" Evap Sensor but still no help --> may be bad. Took it to a very honest mechanic and he was baffled but nothing replaced; no condenser replace because it's working but could hear the whole engine assembly struggling and idling and lack of power at times. Gave him the car for 2 weeks to run into the ground and it only happened to them once with the bouncing In / Out circulation air trick on Auto setting. We're in So Cal so after $400 later for pretty much nothing I took it home and when the hot air was blowing in the cabin with a 64 degree setting on the panel I left the car running, popped the hood and looked around. The "G" condenser pipe was running pretty warm/hot to the touch, and so fed up with it I decided to brute force it and stuck a garden hose against the compressor and turned it on full blast. Then I sprayed down the radiator from above and through the grill and just soaked it. Need to use one of those brass reduction firehose fittings to make a better stream. Knew there was a temp sensor somewhere against the radiator behind the grill so was hoping to reach it with my random spraying. I think it worked because now in 90 degree heat, driving the car for 20+ minutes highway at 75 mph the AC temp never dropped out like I was assuming it would and the next day it was a champ for the same test. . Sounds really odd but I think the front sensor gets clogged plus the evaporator sensor inside replacement seemed to do the trick for now. I also only used the re circulation button on the inside. Hope this helps; it's something to try out.
I have a 2016 Rogue and are experiencing the same A/C issues described as above. My issue is not blend door related as all of the functions of the system function except when it will switch out of max mode and revert back to normal mode. Sometimes it will work at this time and sometimes it will not be blowing cold air. The evaporator freezing up makes sense for my issue but I have no proof of this. It's at the mechanic now, we shall see.

Rnstrega. This will be the 4th or 5th time in two years that my a/c in my 2015 Rogue has crapped out. Today the blowers were on full throttle but no air was coming from the vents. A number of fixes to no avail. Thinking of unloading it but my concern is that this problem will impair the value of my otherwise really pristine car! Such a shame because I love the car, otherwise. Have 63K miles so I don’t think it’s covered under NY Lemon Law. I WILL be in the market for another car and it won’t be a Nissan. BTW my husband has the same car, same model, same problem.
I'm in Canada. Your Auto safety organization, I cannot remember the name (NTSHA ??), has a file on this. Be sure to add to it. If they give you an argument, which they have been doing with some complainants, that it is NOT a safety issue, ask them what happens when a kid gets left in a running car on a hot day while someone runs into a store and the aircon fails ? Please either find the name of that organization in the body of these posts, as someone mentioned it earlier, or Google it and don't skip this step. The ideal would be a recall and they won't unless enough people complain. You are also lucky to have anti- lemon laws. There may be a class action suit coming out of Canada on this. Cheers.

Issues I had with my 2016 rogue was that the ac stopped working but would cycle on and off within seconds. When it stay on it would cool perfectly but for only like 10 minutes. The ambient air and cabin air would swap back and forth on its own. I did replace the evap sensor and fixed that problem but ac still wouldn’t work correctly. I noticed when the ac would cycle on and off the condenser and radiator fans would cycle intermittently really fast and compressor would cycle on and off with it. Ultimately through old faithful YouTube I found a video that showed the pressure transducer valve would cause this problem. It’s located on the left side of the condenser coil, just know that if it’s pulled you will lose all of the refrigerant. Luckily I had the equipment to vacuum the system and recharge after replacing the Transducer valve. I know it’s not a question just wanted to throw out some infor on my findings that could help someone else put. Good luck!
