Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Transmission started shifting with a loud clunk.I added 1/2 quart of fluid and the clunk went away.It now shifts normal but the dipstick says the oil is 2 quarts overfull of transmission fluid?

My guess is the extra oil is damping the clunking noise.

when are you checking the fluid? The engine has to be warm, on a level surface and running when the fluid is checked.
