Fitment of parts from one car to another.

I found a 2002 VW Jetta for cheap. A parts car. I have a 2009 VW City Jetta
and I am wondering if parts from the 2002 VW will fit my 2009 VW City Jetta? It
looks to me like some parts; the lights, front fender and tires and the rack in the
front would fit, but I am not certain. Does anyone know off hand? I have heard
that VW cars from 1999,5-2004 are all the same.

Yes, 1999 to 2005.5 are the 4th generation, yours is fifth gen. So find a 2005.5 to 2011 for your parts car to make it worthwhile. Some mechanical parts from the old gen will probably work but not a lot of the body or cosmetics.
