Clutch replacement 96 Honda accord

Asked by ThatHondaDriver Apr 22, 2019 at 04:19 PM about the 1996 Honda Accord LX

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

So the clutch just went out on my 5 speed 96
Accord. I am going to bring it to my trusted
mechanic, however I always buy my own parts, etc
ahead of time to ensure I have the warranty and to
find the best price. However, this is my first car
with a manual transmission so I have absolutely no
clue what all needs to be purchased for this to be
done right. Any help is greatly appreciated! Thanks.

I use the Rock Auto website for my parts. They are wholesale so it's cheap. You want to pick up a clutch rebuild kit, dont buy just a friction disc or whatever you need because if another part craps out like the pressure plate or throw out bearing, you are going to be in the same situation again. They have to take the transmission away from the engine anyway so I would have them do a rear main seal too.
