Hyundai Genesis Display Screen

Asked by Andria Oct 03, 2018 at 10:30 AM about the 2012 Hyundai Genesis 3.8 Technology RWD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I have a 2012 Hyundai Genesis and my GPS screen went black and inactive
after jump starting the car.  The screen appears to adjust with changes in
light, but is otherwise inoperable.  The radio and CD player still work, but I
have to adjust radio station by hand.  I was told by the dealership that I need
to replace the head unit for $5000.  The notes just say that it was shorted
out.  I found some salvage yards with GPS units.  They informed me that
there are two separate parts; the player and the display screen.  How do I
know if I need one or both parts?  Can anybody help me?

The coupe has spare fuses under the hood in the other fuse box if u have an extra one it should be the 15 or 10 figure out which fuse is burnt out in the driver fuse box and switch it it worked for me fine Be careful when u get a jump because it can blow the fuse

Mike, THANK YOU!! I've been having frozen nav screen problems since buying my 2012 Genesis two years ago. It would freeze for 2-4 weeks, nothing worked to unfreeze it, tried everything. Took it the dealer many times, magically would start working for them. Could not get them to tell me how to fix it. Was ready to put a rebuilt nav head in. Did what you said on the fuses, it worked. When it freezes in the future (once every 1-3 months) I now have a fix

Hyundai don't Stand behind their Genesis the screen . Every time it goes out when the battery goes dead it costs $1000 to fix. And the fix with the fuses does not work on my 2012

I have a 2012 Genesis. Screen was black and never seemed to come on. I went out to the car yesterday and it was totally dead. I had to jump start the car. But afterwards I noticed the screen had an information message about accepting that you would not operate the car while watching the screen and to hit "Enter" to accept the message. Video was very dim though. I can't find any "Enter" button anywhere on the car and I don't have an owner's manual. Can anyone tell me where the "Enter" button is? Once I get past this screen, will the video be brighter? Thank you.

The round dial on the conceal push down toward the ground. That is the enter/select button

I have a 2010 Hyundai Genesis sedan. 2 years ago my display screen went out with some blue and white lines. Hyundai dealer said it would cost $800 to fix. Just read what Mike did to “rebut” his display screen. It worked and took me about 10 minutes to do as MIKE said and I am a 74 yr. old great grandmother! Only difference is the fuses for my 2010 Hyundai Genesis Sedan are labeled A/CON 3 (10A) RF receiver and AUDIO 2 (15A) Audio, Front Monitor, etc. ( there is a fuse puller located on passenger side fuse box - small white plastic). A HUGE THANKS TO MIKE.

My Hyundai 2012 4 door 3.8L Genesis screen went blank - just a very faint light which occasional flashes. Thinking the screen was faulty, I bought another from E-bay. However, the new one also does not light up - does the same thing. Checked all the fuses and found all are good. Anyway I can reset this. Would appreciate if any one could give a feedback.

The solution mentioned worked for 2014 3.8 Sedan. The key is the car needs to be in the on position which mean pushing the start button twice without placing your feet on brake. Then pull the fuses mentioned and reinstall.

Sorry I'm just posting this reply. I followed Mike's instructions to reboot the screen and got the functions working on my display. For a while I had a good screen, but now it stays dark during the day most of the time. When it is lit, it is usually dim and is hard to see. Only at night is it bright and can be easily seen. Anyone have any ideas what further I need to do?

I am currently having this problem on a 2019 Genisis 80 Sport. Less than 6K Miles and five months old. Sitting at the dealer - I cannot continually keep taking it to dealer for minimal satisfaction to resolve the problem. I do not want the car back unless it is working properly.

replacing the display screen is quite easy and very affordable. Ebay has them between 150- 250, they are used and backed by the seller

Has anyone found a suitable replacement unit since none of the fixes work for me, still a blank screen but would rather get something new than put money in old tech.
