Genesis turn signal lights

Question type: Maintenance & Repair
14 months ago I had to have the turn signal lights replaced on my 2015 Genesis. It currently has 33800 miles and I only drive 8-9000 a year. These lights need to be replaced again. I've owned lots of cars but have never had to replace turn lights this quickly. I'm wondering if this is a problem and perhaps a recall has been issued to correct it???

My 2015 Genesis 3.8 has the turn signal lights integrated in the front grill. They are used as daytime running lights. If you don't turn them off they are on whenever the car is on until your headlights are turned on. Unfortunately you cant have your lights set to auto and have the daytime option off at the same time. If your lights are set to auto then the turn lights are constantly running when the car is on during the day. This setting causes excessive use which causes them to burn out quicker.
An option is to use 1157 light bulb in place of the 2357 turn signal bulbs. this will extend the replacement time and slightly reduce the heat while DLR lights are being used. These 1157 bulbs have a longer life expectancy and use less power, but it is not a fix for a poor design.( turn signal filament should not be used for continuous operation, DLR,. it should extend the replacement time at the expense of a less bright indicator..
This is a known problem that was "fixed" in the 2016 and up models. They were replaced with LEDs. There is an LED fix for the 2015 that requires a plug-n-play LED light and then a resistor. Not overly complicated and requires about 30 minutes of work. 30k+ hours for the LED vs 800-1000 hours for incandescent bulbs.

Paul is there a kit being sold to switch my incandescent bulbs to led and if so, where can I find it?
I purchased Sirius LEDs off Amazon, but I heard that they are sold out there. You can go directly to their website, but they are a bit more expensive. The good news is that they are plug and play. The only issue may be with polarity. If you plug them in and they don't work, then you simply need to switch the red wires and you should be good. I didn't need resistors because there was no hyper flashing. https://www.siriusledlights.com/products/kg-series-led- exterior-light-1157-amber? rq=yr_2015~mk_hyundai~md_genesis~ft_base- model~nm_front-turn-signal-light-bulb

Have multiple Genesis cars and these bulbs go out constantly. I had one go out after only 10 days and that one was replaced by the dealer. Two issues with these bulbs I am told: First, Hyundai has had issues with the wiring harnesses for them. You may be able to get the dealer to replace at least once at no charge (good luck!) as a result. It is a known issue. I will say even after they changed the harness, the bulbs still go out regularly. Second, there is a design issue. Hyundai has these bulbs doing double duty as both daytime running lights and turn signals. Not smart. It greatly shortens the life of the bulbs. I believe the heat generated from being on all the time does the flasher mode no good. Most vehicles apparently use different bulbs for this reason. I now leave my daytime running lights/auto switch off unless I need my headlights. Bulbs still go out, but a little less often. I love the Genesis but Hyundai has a number of quality issues to address and they refuse to admit it. Such as my least used door handle falling off one day (about $400) and the back panel of the drivers seat separating (with no rear seat passenger use - $900). Rear window tail light fell off ($400) due to a bad gasket. Etc., etc. All known issues but Hyundai won't take care of, even for their "luxury"/flagship car. I have helped Hyundai sell over 12 of these cars, but no more.
I have the same problem. Bought 2015 G80 in 2918 @42,5k mi. Now only at 59k mi. and 3rd replacement of DRLs. First cost $425+ (Pass. side), then $175 for Driver side. Now Pass side is out again. Been driving forever, and NEVER had bulbs go out so quickly. Does Genesis know about this? Are they doing anything?
