car issues

Probably the position sensing switch on the shift lever has gotten loose or become defective. If the car drives normally, you can take your time getting it fixed.
I believe there is a drive selctor position switch that can be adjusted on top of the transmission. If the car shifts ok, it is probably as taver91 said above, something around the shift lever in the console has loosened or stretched and should be looked at.
Now its saying I'm in 2nd gear while still n drive as well. It won't cum out of 1st or 2nd gear. Reverse neutral and park is fine. Transmission fluid good. Its just not going in drive mode.
It could just be a matter of adjusting the switch I mentioned on top of the transmission. Possibly it came loose and needs to be readjusted and tightened.
