1996 passport ...fuel delivery trouble?

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

On 1996 Passport with 105k, runs great but makes a ticking-pinging noise at idle like I had bad fuel (old school). Heard that it was somewhat typical for that 3.2 v-6 and I understand some engines will do this after awhile. No power loss to speak of and been really reliable. I can put a can of Seafoam in the tank and noise goes away in same day. Lasts for about 3 more tankfuls then gradually comes back. Putting Seafoam into fuel and having the problem go away temporarily means something but I'm not sure what.
Also sometimes will start but idle right down to 0 rpm and die now and again. You can keep rpm up with accelerator and by the
time you drive 100 yards the rpm becomes stable and all is good. This part is more rare but possibly related.

Hi, did you ever get an answer to your question? I have the same car and mine makes the ticking/pinging noise too. My repair guy told me to change the oil weight but this did nothing to solve the problem.
