My kia optima 2012 stopped running in the middle of me driving it. IT TURN BUT WONT START. MAKING CLICKING NOISE. the battery light came on and said key undetected. so my mechanic came, and i ended replacing a battery and starter because whatever is going on fried the old ones. after that my car wouldnt even turn anymore. lights come on and nothing. i have it towed to kia dealership now, I HAVE EXTENDED WARRANTY FOR POWER TRAIN. WHAT COULD THIS BE.?

took to dealer, and they said the motor is locked. no further information at this time. i hope its not from low oil because i never any indication that it was even low let alone emptyh. but last i checked it was oil in it just very little.

I have a 2016 Kia Optima my steering wheel locked on my and my key is turning over but it won’t start. Everything in my car is coming on so it has power,but it’s not even making a ticking noise when I turn the key. I had it towed last night to the dealership.

If your car was made I believe in Arizona your motor is under recall. Same thing happened to us. Ours was covered because it came from the plant that messed up the motors.

I have a 2011 kia Optima sxturbo. Same thing moter just shut off while driving. The moter siezed had to tow it to Kia and have them put a new motor in it. It was covered under Warranty but took like 30days to get my car back. A month later I realized the Ac wasnt working just neutral air. They said it had a bad connection and said i was good. Now that its hot outside I notice my Ac isnt working at all just hot air. So they wanted $200 to test the Ac system to tell me the highe side of the Discharge line is leaking and it will be another $650

CORRECTION: moter was under a reacall Because the factory left metal fragments in the bottom of the motor and it retained the oil from lubricating the engine. But the entire time I was checking the oil and it would always read full and looked clean.

My 2012 optima was under the recall for the motor. The motor spun a bearing and the dealership replaced the motor. They took the whole front end off the car to do the work. Now hood, fender, bumper, and headlights are out of alignment. The car is also losing power and shutting off while driving. My car has been at the dealership for more than a month, and I will not accept it back until all of the work is done and my car is back to the way it was when it was taken to them...they have given me a 2020 kia soul to drive. Check for the recall before replacing your motor. My car was full of oil and had never had any problems before this.

They are still recalling motors! my Cuz bought one last Lear or the year before had the the same problems you all had today on a long distance medical trip and bottom line was told it’s the motor and Kia is replacing for free. I was considering Kia but they sound just like Ford Topaz to me a piece of sh.t! My Advice Sell and get away from them they will bleed you dry I am the voice of experience! I bought a Ford Topaz brand new. Red LEMON!!!!! Kia Optima sounds like a duck. looks like a duck, etc etc etc

We have a kia soul, 2023 model, 6000 miles on it (just finished 5000 mile oil change). Stopped in traffic (a usual feature, when you stop for a few seconds it shuts off engine and restarts when you want to go). But this time would not start. Does not start,just clicks when you push start button. A message about ESC did come up, may or may not be relevant. Other lights come on so battery seems ok, and the car is very nearly brand new. No indication of lube problems, and after all just got back from dealer changing oil. Dealer says they will look at it tomorrow. I will call and ask if there are any recalls in view of the responses here.
