That’s right cause the new key has a new chip so they programmed the security system for the new key.
When new keys are programmed to the vehicle all the old keys are removed from the vehicle's memory. Now, to answer your next question, you can't program additional keys to the vehicle yourself , including the old key, unless you already have 2 working keys. Hope that helps! Jim
