Does it sound like broken glass inside the door panel? My 07 Expedition is doing this on the driver window and sometimes the window slides down a little all by itself and when I try to power it back up, it sounds like crunching glass. The motor seems to work just fine. If yours is similar, this is a window regulator issue. I can buy a replacement off Amazon for $85 and change it myself. Not too difficult to do based on the detailed youtube instructional videos.
