1992 honda civic, starts fine with jump, take the cables off, and give it gas, it bogs down and starts shaking and dies

Asked by Dakota Dec 29, 2016 at 05:03 AM about the 1992 Honda Civic DX

Question type: General

I have changed fuel filter and spark plugs(didn't
change the wires or distributor cap or anything) put
fuel injection cleaner in it, before I changed the fuel
filter and spark plugs it was running fine but when
driving it at 65-70 miles an hour, it would kinda
back off and speed back up, but that's what I get
for buying a $300 car, but after I changed the fuel
filter and spark plugs, it stopped doing that, then
after I drove it for like an hour to go to town, on the
way home, going up a hill, it started bogging down
and acted like it wasn't getting gas, then after 2
days of that, it started shaking, and then now the
only way to keep it running is to keep the throttle
about halfway to the floor, but even then when u go
to put it in drive or any other gear, it starts shaking
worse than the first time and then it dies, and then
the battery acts like it is dead, there are times that
u can take any battery that's not in another car and
hook up to it and it will fire up but still can't drive a
block away from my house before it does it all over
again, I have been told fuel pump, battery, also
been told that the idle is tightened to low, been told
it's the breather, also been told that it was the
alternator, I'm a single 20 year old father to a 1 year
old baby,

Its definitely fuel-related, check the fuel pressure at the rail to see what it is. If it's low then it's the fuel pump, while the clean the throttle body with a good throttle body cleaner.

Mass air flow sensor or one of the two throttle sensors on throttle body but my guess would b mass air flow unplug it n see if it changes anything if it doesn't its bad
