Battery draining

Question type: Maintenance & Repair
For a month..my battery has been
dead each morning when I go out
to start it..I've had the battery
checked and alternator several
times and the readings are
good..but the battery keeps dying
at night.. One mechanic called it a
phantom short...well the shop
charges 150.00 an hour..any ideas
on where this short may be so I
can save some money...

You probably have a battery drain, not a short. You can find it using an amp meter and by pulling fuses one at a time until the draw stops. $150 an hour is really high, higher than a lot of dealers charge so you might want to shop around if you don't want to DIY. Me too on my 2016 Tucson. Did you find the short or source of the drain?
What did you find out ?
It was the amp for the radio we were told. This was after a new battery and two full days to find this out. He settled for $50 because they did a charging system check before installing the battery we didn't need. No guarantee at all but if it dies tomorrow I'm going to be beyond furious.
I purchased a Tucson and it suffered 7 battery failures. Exhaustive testing finally revealed the problem to be Hyundai Auto link. I had it removed and have not had any further battery issues.
I'm having the same issue with a 2014 Hyundai Tucson. I've gone through 3 batteries and have been dealing with this since Aug. 2018. I can't trade it in because it's new to me, bought in Feb. 2018 and have many, many more payments on it. It's the most frustrating thing I've ever been through when it comes to cars. I've bought a jump starter from BiMart, about $110. Then a High Power Booster Pak because that is what the tow driver used. $150. Now a friend took pity on my and loaned me a $279 Schumacher, electric, probably because I'm female and he felt bad for me. But sooner or later I'll have to give it back. I'm at my wits end. Anyone in southern Oregon that can help would be grately appreciated.

Having the same problem here in illinois since April with my 2013 Tucson. Got a new battery but still needing to be jumped if I didn't drive it at least every 48hrs. Hyundai has now had it for 2 weeks and say it works fine for them after they let it sit for a week. But they'll "keep checking". This is bs.
I have the same issue with my hyndai 2013 tucson. Were you able to locate the source. My car does every 30-48 hours if I don't drive it. It's frustrating as I can't keep driving it every day to keep it charged.. hyundai s probably aware of this but is not doing much
Hyundai replaced my fuse box, expensive, $4000 and it took a couple of weeks, but it worked.
Wow. Can't believe it's so expensive. My car s worth only around 7k perhaps.. not doing that repair.

My 2015 Tucson Battery has started to loose power requiring a Jump start if not started within 24 hours. Issue began after i replaced electronic hand brake switch / console. The battery is the original manufactures version and is 5 years old so perhaps a new battery will resolve matter??
