how to repair timing belt on 2001 hyundai accent

my car overheated on me, but there is not any water in the oil, nor oil in the radiator. when trying to crank it, it sounds like it has no compression. I was told it may have jumped time. How do i check that? and how do i fix that?

Did the timing belt fail and you heard a pop and now have no power or acceleration? You, may have already ruined your engine. You have what is called an " Interference engine " In an interference engine, when the timing belt breaks, the piston can and will hit an intake or exhaust valve. This can result in damage to the piston and to the valve or pistons and valves. I'm sorry, but, you're going to need an engine rebuild.
There's a prescribed interval for changing these belts and you ran passed that "red light ", if you know what I mean. You can't do that. You're certainly not the first nor the last person who has done this. Remember, it's not just mileage, but time that wears out these items.
