Passenger Side Power Seat Help

Asked by geoffreyhensley Nov 05, 2024 at 03:56 PM about the 1985 Chrysler Fifth Avenue Base

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

The passenger side power seat failed when it was pushed all the way forward.
I can't get it to go back and I can't remove the seat because it sits over the
bolts.  The motor moves it up and down but not back (can't go forward).  Any
advice?

Do you hear a click when the forward/aft switch is activated? if not then check the seat relays and the fore and aft switch. If you hear a click then feel if the motor makes a slight jump when pushing the button to go back, if it doesn't jump slightly then the motor has locked up. Now you have the right tools you can remove the seat from the track assembly, but it is really tight fit and not easy, so you will need to raise the seat as high as it will go to gain access to those bolts and possibly need to remove part of the lower cushion covering. I wish you good luck.
