Can I put a 2.5 muffler on my stock exhaust

If its a dohc put 3 inch in it, all the way youll see major difference those doch 4.6s LOVE it. You probably have 2 in? Being stock im guessing.... a 2.5 muffler will work but buy the clamps to get a tighter fit for a 2in going into a 2.5 or whatever size you do have. Ask sales guy or girl theyll know.
Some other guys told me a stock exhaust is 2.25 and they told me to go with 2.5
Yea the best for performance 3in is best for fuel or sound or other random I dont know. My mercury 4.6 sohc comes stock with 2in I know different car but slightly same.motor. but muffler glasspack or tips or whatever you can modify it to work depend what you wanna spend. Personally I do all my own work to add a 3in muffler itd only cost me the muffler price and fitting price I could do it less than 100 buck easily. The price is the biggest thing. Personally I wouldnt go from a 2.25 in to a 3 back to a 2.25. If you up size continue that size to the rear.
