Replaced camshaft sensor multiple times but computer still reads error?!

Asked by Mazdasensor Feb 14, 2016 at 04:09 AM about the 2002 Mazda Protege5 4 Dr ES Wagon

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

My check engine light keeps coming on and the computer reads a camshaft
sensor error. I have had the sensor replaced three times and nothing changes.
The car also intermittently slows down, it feels as if something is impeding the
fuel flow or something like that, and then it gives a jump forward and returns to
running normally. I've had it at the mechanics repeatedly with no luck. Any
thoughts?

I'm thinking the crank shaft sensor, I'm supersized they didn't look at this since the two (cam & crank sensors) communicate together.

Hey were you able to figure out the issue? I have a 2002 p5 that's doing the exact same thing. At first was happening only a handful of times randomly over amonth span. Then Timing belt was replaced and ran perfect for two weeks then issue started again. Progressively worsened so I parked it for good. Need help please.
