1996 Silverado starting problems
Asked by Tonyabert77 Oct 06, 2016 at 11:11 AM about the 1996 Chevrolet C/K 1500 Silverado 4WD
Question type: General
Starting up my truck in the morning takes a
few cranks seems like the motor is starving
since it will spark but die out it usually
starts the second or third time
However I feel like I'm not getting as much
power as I should
Fuel psi is about 54 at idle
And 60+ at 2000+ Rpms
I also tested the maff air flow sensor it is
good
Any suggestions,
Thanks
Tony

Your fuel pressure is spot on. Consider running a compression test or do a tune up if it's been a while since it's been done
If doing the tune up doesn't help, clean all intake components, air filter and throttle body

I've recently changed the spark plugs and the compression was rated for 8.6 I believe at the heads which is not bad for 100k miles I cleaned maff sensor and got a new air filter Have not cleaned the throttle body yet though thanks gentlemen!!!
