88 chevy silverado, 350 and hydromatic tranny...prolly a 400??? anyway, i went over railroad tracks yesterday and lost forward and reverse.  I changed filter and fluid today thinking maybe filter fell down and still when you put it in d,r,1,or 2, it does nothing.  Engine doesnt even sound like it has a load.  You can rev it up and will sometimes feel like it is engaging but not enough to drive.  I was able to limp home in what felt like 2nd gear.

I also checked the fluid level when cold and engine off,level was way up on stick. then started and checked the fluid level and it went down to almost where it should be so seems like pump is working
