I would test fuel pressure. Have you changed fuel filter? Serviced the engine lately? Changed Fuel regulator? Start by checking/testing the basics. Fuel pumps should not be going out that fast test voltage to the pump to see if its within limits for you model, really needs to get a repair book.
All the things enginecreator says are right and true. I'm an uneducated shade-tree parts changer that likes to go with most probable, cheap and easy first. As my first action I would replace your fuel filter. The fuel filter on your chevy is easy to get to and only costs about 15.00 A clogged fuel filter can and will destroy a fuel pump and also matches your symptoms. I've had these symptoms with a clogged fuel filter on a 94 ford van. Unlike that ford, changing the filter doesn't require special tools and isn't that hard of a job There are even some youtube videos that will show you how to do it. Good luck!
