The PCV is locked in on the Cam cover. Is there a way of twisting it out or do you have to pull the cam cover to gain access to the bottom side??? Or a special tool that removes it some how?? It’s not built into the cover, it comes as a separate part. Why would GM make it this way??? Grrrrr!!!!!

My Niece's 05 Impala was like that. In the 12 years she had the car we never changed it and it never gave her any trouble. I'd leave it alone until it needs to be replaced. Hope that helps! Jim

I think it locks in due to the turbo application. I suspect you are correct in assuming you might have to pull the cover to replace it. Apparently the valve cover is a common replacement due to vacuum leaks.

I know the PCV Valve needs changing due to the way it’s driving and traces of oil in turbo. I also know the 2016 and older Cruze has the PCV built into the cam cover but the 2017 and up are a single piece PCV. One guy said he broke the clips off trying to pull it out and had to dig for the pieces. Risky if you don’t get them all. I was just wondering if there was a tool available or maybe the PCV needs to be turned 90 degrees or something to pull out. Taking the cam cover of seems excessive and is very time consuming.

Anar, this thread is two years old. Please start a new thread, with your pictures, so everyone can see them and answer your questions. Thanks! Jim

I removed one by cutting off the top of the valve with a 7/8 hole saw, removing the plunger and spring, and pulling up on the green tabs with 2 wire hooks made from a coat hanger (one pulling on each side). I think it can be removed with a Dremel too because there is a pan just below the valve (presumably for funneling gases, noticeable in Anar's pic above) where any pieces that fall can be recovered.
