2017 Forester Won't Go Into Park

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I recently had my Forester fixed when I couldn't remove the key from the ignition (car didn't recognize that it was in Park).  Subaru America paid for this. Shortly after this fix, my car will not go into Park.  The car thinks it's in Park because I can remove the key.  The car is actually in Reverse.  I must set the Emergency Brake at this point.  To start the car, I turn the key and put the car in Neutral.  Is this a problem that someone has encountered and did Subaru American pay?  Thanks,

Yup. You also might have old french fries blocking the console Park solenoid switch. Been there...seen it. Remove cover and clean out debris before chasing SOA.

Thanks for your help. The dealership didn't charge me to fix this issue. Apparently when the original fix was done, a part was not put back on that would prevent this from happening.
