Yes, it's not unheard of. But if you're only hearing the knocking on acceleration it's probably denotation. If your check engine light or service engine soon light is not on, try a higher octane or different brand of gasoline. If the check engine light is on you might have a bad knock sensor. The knock sensor is like a microphone that listens for spark/knock (denotation). If it hears that, a signal is sent to the computer to retard the ignition timing to stop the knock. Hope that helps! Thank you for the answer. The engine knock occurs even in an idle condition. I just had an engine replacement where one cylinder had low compression, The new engine has the engine knock.

You're welcome. Glad to help. If this was supposed to be a freshly rebuilt engine you should take it back to whomever did the job. It's defective. If this was a salvage yard engine I hope you got some kind of guarantee on it, like maybe 30 days. How's your oil pressure? Knocking and low oil pressure at idle indicates bad bearings. If a salvage yard engine, did you hear it run before you bought it? Did you change the oil and then it started knocking? If so, did you put the correct weight and type of oil back in the engine? Jim
