temp gauge on 99 expedition stops working then comes to normal spot.

Have changed thermostat, flushed coolant system, and gotten all air out of system. Is it
time for coolant temperature sensor change? It's a 5.4L V8 looks like sensor bolts to front
of engine.  That sound correct?

temp sensor,yes correct on location,has a 1 wire plugged to it and is round.
