2017 Yukon Tow Package

My Yukon has a tow package but does not have the integrated brake controller.  
However i hooked up my trailer and the Yukon brakes seemed to be actuating
the brakes on the trailer.  Can anyone shed light on this?  Will it control trailer
brakes without the integrated unit?

By tow package do you mean it has a hitch installed by the factory? All yukons come with a trailering package that will tow 6000 lbs. The HD tow package will include a 3.42 rear axle ratio and an integraded brake controller which bumps it up to 7900-8300.
