No check engine light but having problems fueling up on 2004 Denali XL

Asked by BLFriend Apr 06, 2014 at 09:06 PM about the 2004 GMC Yukon XL Denali 4WD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I have not had a check engine light come on, but had an issue with my '04 Denali only taking about 0.3 gal before the pump clicking off like it's full.  I replaced the CANISTER PURGE SOLENOID VALVE and it seemed to solve the problem...but only for a couple of weeks.  The problem is back!

Could be the vent line from the gas tank to the filler neck is plugged or has a kink in it.

Do you know if I can unhook it and drive the car? If so, I could do that then try to fuel it up. If I'm correct, then it would allow the canister to breathe and would just vent under the truck instead of at the top of the spout.
