What's wrong with my '02 Jeep Liberty Limited?

Asked by monica9583 Jan 16, 2016 at 04:34 PM about the 2002 Jeep Liberty Limited 4WD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I have a Jeep Liberty Limited and when my truck starts acting up my windshield wipers won't come on, my headlights won't come on, my speedometer won't work, I can't lock/unlock my doors from my keychain... I cant even lock/unlock my doors with the button on the inside. I have to manually lock/unlock each door by hand, and my light on the inside blinks on and off sometimes. These problems basically keeps me from driving in the dark and when its raining. And this doesn't happen everyday (just whenever) and I never know when it is going to happen. Although for the past 4 days these problems have been on going and nothing comes on at all. Does anybody know what the problem is? Please help me!!

Check all the fuses under the car and relays in black near battery under the hood. , All of the relays in black can have an affect on the headlights coming on and off and interior lights not going of. These are connected to the BPS module near the fuse box and expensive, Check to see these are not shorted out. Listen for any clicking noises. Look at the multi-function black relay in box # 4671168E. This controls the wipers. The others have multi functions that if shorted can affect the BPS module that remembers your electrical switches. If this does not work check the multi -Function switch on top of the steering wheel

There is a module attached to the fuse box that is inside you dash by the drivers door. It isn't a simple fix. The module has to be re-programmed after replacing it. While you're replacing the module, replace the fuse box with it as the module going bad damages the circuitry in the fuse box. If you are in Florida, contact Andy @ Jeep diagnostics..352-263-9102. His price was reasonable and he was honest and thorough!
