Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I own a 2000 jeep cherokee sport 6cy 4.0. The engine light comes on periodically and i reset it. I get a p303 error code (bad misfire cylinder 3). Can the coil on plug system go bad?

I had my coil packs go out on my cherokee. I had the same code you did. I think i may have had cylinder 3 and cylinder 6 get the error code. I think you can test the resistance on the coil packs but I am not sure on the specific of how to do it

your most common problem that causes this is bad plugs or coils depending on how many miles you have on it i would suggest just replacing both, its not all that expensive and most shops would replace both with a tune up anyways
