Repair or replace jeep frame?

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I bought 2000 Jeep Wrangler in Nov. of 2013. It had 70,000 miles and looked great. 3 months later a mechanic looked at it to repair skid plate which had fallen lower and he said it was so rusted that it was unsafe to drive! Two other mechanics now say the same thing.  I am looking for  frames or parts to repair this. Where do I start and who do I trust? Is a repaired frame going to last a lifetime or should I get a new frame? Used car dealer not eager to help of course - I bought as is - but is there any recourse anyway? I'd never heard of this problem with jeeps before - I'm smarter now. And out $9200.00. You can even e-mail me at mstrsmall@yahoo.com

Did they give you a estimate? It's probably more than the truck is worth. How bad is it rusted? Where is it rusted? What part of the NorthEast do you live in?

They did give an estimate, it was $2000 for the work and $600 for the frame. the whole bottom of the frame is rotted out along the whole chassis, and the rear right shackel is rotted through on both sides, the only thing holding the shackel on is the top of the frame. we are in the South Western corner of Michigan
