95 Cherokee Sport fuel(?) issue.. Can't figure out the issue.
Very long question so please bare with me.
I have a 95 Cherokee Sport straight 6 HO. I have
had the vehicle for two years and have never got
the fuel system to work properly... And I can't figure
out the issue.
It started with the fuel pump, we knew it needed
one when we bought it, no issue. Changed the fuel
pump and for about two months everything ran
fine. After the first two months it started getting air
in the lines and would end up shutting off. I could
bleed the air from the fuel rail and it would crank
back. (happened more on longer drives and the
Jeep wasn't over heating).
Then came the problem of a leaking injector. We
removed the fuel rail to replace the injectors and
what poured out of the fuel rail looked like mud, the
back two injectors (neither of which were the
leaking one) where clogged with it. We flushed the
rail and installed the new injectors, switched gas
tanks from another Jeep that had no issues when
it ran and for a while no issues.
Now, the vehicle has started spitting and
sputtering when driving. When you crank it for the
first time that day it seems to run okay... After a
while or if you turn it off and recrank it, it runs like
hell. It will jump and shake like it's losing fuel
pressure, shutters and backfires. I have run
seafoam through a couple of times and plan to
take the injectors back out to flush the fuel rail
again to make sure.
I've been told something about the PCM to a burnt
valve to being told another fuel pump.. I am ready
to put a dollar in the front seat send it off a cliff
and say I lost something (and it wouldn't be the
Jeep lol)... If any one has any ideas or has had any
similar problems... I'll take any help I can get on
this one..
