im getting ready to replace a head on a 2004 kia optima. Is there anything I need to know about replacing the head before i get started. Also does anyone know how likely the cam shaft sensor is to go out on these cars and would it be worth it to replace it since ive got it torn apart?

How many miles on car? If your over 50k I would do the sensor, thermostat and belt. If your doing it yourself I would have a Haynes manual and follow that, especially the timing portion.
Are you talking the timing belt? And what is a Haynes manual and where would I get one?

Yes timing belt and most auto parts stores have these books. They are about $30.
Is it easier to.replace the sensor after I take the old head off before installing the new head?
